Does anyone know the incentives currently being offered for AKV by DVC?

Does anyone know the incentives that were offered on the member cruise? I was on it and committed to 250 AKV pts but I am not sure I made the right decision now. Can someone pls help me with my post sale jitters. We just agreed without listening to all of our choices because we really wanted the free cruise. Now I am not sure that was the right choice for us. I own a lot of pts already and even though we love the AKV maybe we didn't make the choice with our thinking caps on.

Thanks so much

I just spoke with my guide today. He said Animal Kingdom is selling at $104 per point with an $8 discount. If you purchase 110 points (I think there are other amounts too, but that is the level of add on we are thinking of) you receive 100 one time developer points to be used within a year.

It seems that your on board promotion of receiving the category 6 sailing for two people on next year's DVC Member Cruise has a value of 346 points, which is what the point chart shows on the member website.

I think that is a fabulous incentive for your points purchase!

I have one question for you Icydog. When you made the purchase on board ship and received the cruise for two for next year, did they allow you to select your stateroom yet? Or do you have to call in also on November 17? Just wondering if they have actually held staterooms for the incentives. Thanks!

NO they didn't say any more than you will be in a cat 6 stateroom. My guide did tell me yesterday that it will be difficult to get a cat 6 on member call in day since they, DVC, reserved so many with their incentive packages. He also told me with so many members having developer pts it may be difficult to find anything at 7 months. So thanks for your advice CarolAnnC It turned out to be very sound. :yay:

Marylyn,

I think that the free cabin was a great idea. I purchased two 250 contracts to get two cabins.

I have a Dec use year, they gave me 250 Dec 06 points with no MX fee and 250 Dec 07 points with almost no mx fee.

If you rent those points out for $10, your cost comes down to $74 a point including $10 off from the start if you purchased SSR and you get a free cabin on the cruise without calling in on the 17th and being on hold for 2 hours.

I think it was the best incentive of the year!

See ya on the cruise

PS - They gave me the option to upgrade to a 1 bedroom cabin before 17 Nov

I had it added to the contract, they may do the say for you if you want to go all out for the cruise

Hey Carl, would that perhaps be a Category 3 they were referring to? I believe those are almost double the cost of a Category 6...

Carol,

Yes, it would be a cat 3

It would be about 300 points more but it is your only chance to get a Cat 3 using points, and the first 340 were kind of free

We stayed in the one bedroom cabin and it was fantastic. Will it be worth that many more points - NO.

I did not get all the extra points you got. I have two master contracts one with a Sept UY and one with a Dec UY. I bought AKV not SSR because I really don't care for SSR and I really love the AKL. Because I bought into AKV, and there were no points in 2006 to be added to my Dec UY contract, I was out those extra points. It baffled us for awhile. We thought we would cancel our AKV deal and buy SSR (rather than AKV) to get those extra points. We then decided that it wasn't worth it to us.

Having the 11 month priority window at AKV was an big incentive to us. We believe, going forward, most people will end up in their own resorts because they will have to reserve there at 11 months. With so many new members, and so many new SSR members in particular who want to stay elsewhere, it makes it more important than ever to own where you want to go. SSR is nice, it is just not for us. If we are in that area of WDW we will stay at our OKW Resort. Congratulations on your purchase and best of luck with your vacation planning.
