37 years from now, my DVC I and BCV POINTS will expire, based on what I know today.

For the next 12 years are DVC II and SSRS point owners, guaranteed access to all 7 DVC REsorts, including the 6 original DVC I resorts, that will have no members & SSRS
or
only SSRS, for those 12 years

Under the current contracts, on February 1, 2042, the only DVC resort will be SSR. Those owners will have only that resort to use.

In the meantime, it's entirely possible for DVC to build more DVC resorts, to offer some sort of extension of ownership for the six resorts that expire in 2042 or to resell those resorts for use beginning at that time.

I doubt that the decision regarding this has been made or will be made for some time, but one possible outcome for the existing original resorts is to demolish them and rebuild (as was done in the case of the SSR resort).

Stay Tuned!

THank you for this information, very interesting.

I think that you are telling me that DVC II and SSRS owners, as of June 5,2004, are onl guaranteed SSRS, for the 12 years, after DVC I Owners points, expire.

Maybe it is incorrect for me to use terms DVC I AND DVC II, but to me clearly, they are not the same membership, 37 years from now.

There is no DVC I and DVC II distinction- all seven current resorts are part of DVC.

Under the current program, on February 1, 2042, there will be only one remaining DVC resort. If the other present DVC resorts are used by Disney as WDW resorts, I'd expect that SSR owners will be able to use points to stay there under the Disney Collection program, but unless some other offer is made in the ensuing years, these original resorts will no longer be part of DVC.

And if DVC does build other resorts or gives extensions to current resorts, there's nothing to say it has to be the same length of time as SSR though it makes sense it would be.

item 1 of the Product Understanding Checklist distributed with SSR documents states, in part:

After January 31, 2042, there will only be one Disney Vacation Club Resort, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort, unless additional resorts are added at the the discretion of Disney Vacation Development... A prospective Member should not purchase an Ownership interest in reliance upon the addition of other resorts or the ability to reserve at the other existing DVC Resorts after January 31, 2042.

Personally, I don't see that as a hinderance:smooth:

ITA. It is, in some ways, the same understanding with which the original DVC owners purchased their points at OKW. They had no guarantee of any future construction -- there was only OKW.
