DVC Icebreaker- Five Questions!

DVC Resorts you own at: BLT, AKV, RIV, PVB, VGC

Funniest DVC Memory: 2 or 3 days jumping from stand to stand to get the magicband thing, finally got one and couldn't hold it comfortably longer than 10mins

Favorite DVC event you've ever attended: Moonlight Magic

Favorite DVC Trip and Why: every single one, I just love it

If DVC would grant three wishes, I would want them to: 1. I would love all of your wishes to come true, cool ideas!
2. More exclusive experiences. 3. D. Cruise for members a bit cheaper

Funniest: Not sure what to put here?

Favorite event: One day we went up to the EPCOT lounge and noticed they had a table set up in the little backdrop area. As a surprise and delight, not announced at all, Stacia Martin was there and was drawing portraits of your favorite Disney character on demand from memory. Watching Donald or Goofy come to life on the paper was incredible.

Favorite trip: I have loved all of my DVC trips, some more than others. I hate to pick a favorite (it's like picking a favorite Little Debbie). But my first DVC trip will always be special. We bought at RIV and booked our first welcome home for about 4 months later, but stalked the site and found a long weekend available at Jambo in a savanna view studio for about a month out. We booked it and arrived at the resort (neither of us had ever been there before) and were of course blown away as anyone who goes to Jambo the first time would be.

I remember I was taking a photo of the amazing lobby and flipped the camera around to take a selfie and who was behind me but Chip.

Waking up every morning of that trip to drink coffee with the giraffes and zebras still amazes me. And roasting marshmallows every night with the giraffes walking around is always incredible as well. And hearing the flamingos fuss at each other by the hot tub.

Needless to say, shortly after that trip my guide called us and said they were having a special on AKV points and we bought 200. Before our "first welcome home" stay, we had already added on and doubled our points total.

Three wishes: more discounts (such as at quick service venues at WDW), an evening reception at all DVC resorts (similar to the cookies they have in the Big Murggie's Den at HHI - doesn't have to be anything fancy), and do something with all the space at SSR if that spa is never going to reopen.

DVC Resorts you own at: VGC, VDH, Polynesian

Funniest DVC Memory:
I can't think of anything.

Favorite DVC event you've ever attended: I haven't been to many events. I'll have to say my favorite of the ones I have attended would be on the Disney Magic. It was a game show/sales pitch, but we got unlimited drinks while there (one alcoholic option, bottled water and cloudem Blu).

Favorite DVC Trip and Why: They've all been great, but I'll give the edge to VDH Garden studio. The patio was very large and I honestly couldn't get enough of Steamboat Willie shooting out steam outside of my room. I also enjoyed the live music from my patio. The breakfast at Tangaroa was very good and the setting absolutely stunning.

If DVC would grant three wishes, I would want them to:
1.) Something useful for each stay like a choice between $20. dining credit, a LL, or complimentary water or soda in the room. I know the costs would add up, but they could just do it for 7 nights or longer stays.
2.) Access to all parks without a reservation during the stay.
3.) Front of the line access to the lounges/restaurants/ quick service at the resort we're staying at. You know, like at the Polynesian.

Also, I know it's going to say that I'm quoting @Girlstar30 , but it's because of my copy/paste skills or lack thereof.

I think these are all very reasonable!

Funniest DVC Memory: My kids reaction when we stay at a non-DVC resort. "Hey!,Where's the slide? Where is the "craft" room!?"

Favorite DVC event you've ever attended: Welcome home weeks the free ice cream was nice and I enjoyed the breakfast at Wilderness lodge.

Favorite DVC Trip and Why: the 1st 1-bedroom stay at the grand. It was exactly why we bought DVC. I felt like we were living like the "other side" and best of all there was only a blank bill at checkout!

If DVC would grant three wishes, I would want them to: 1.) End Resale restrictions, it makes DVC to "timesharey". 2.) 20% off table service and 10% off quick service/mobile order. I feel with prices so high Disney can still make lots of $$ and make me feel special. 3.) More member events: special ice cream socials, moonlight magics I can get in, free breakfast, a free happy hour, coffee social etc.

A selfish wish: I wish to be able to book the room we want whenever we wanted.

Funniest DVC Memory: Actually just this past year. We went to the member lounge at Disney Springs to pick up the complimentary Dumbo tote bag they were offering at the time (think it was Welcome Home Weeks). But they'd just run out. One CM offered to give us the blue DVC crossbody instead, but a fairly snotty CM overruled her (and he wasn't at all nice about it). As we were leaving, a third CM caught up with us outside and gave us a full goodie basket with the crossbody, ball caps, magnets, etc. It was really sweet, and she was quite conspiratorial about sneaking around the grumpy guy. Made me laugh when I'd been annoyed just a few moments before.

Favorite DVC event you've ever attended: Moonlight Magic and Welcome Home Weeks - loved the free popcorn on DCL

Favorite DVC Trip and Why: Staying at Boardwalk in December 1999 for the millennium. Everyone was freaked out about Y2K and what might happen to computers. Disney delivered little chocolates and a flashlight to our room. And there were emergency lights set up all over property. Of course, everything turned out fine. For the millennium itself, we went to Epcot and rang in 2000 with friends we'd made on a Disney cruise in 1998.

If DVC would grant three wishes, I would want them to: Give me the option to extend my membership past 2042 (we foolishly didn't when we had the chance), have more members' only events and include Photopass for free with annual passes.

Funniest DVC Memory: 2 year old daughter running from the balcony and diving into bed at BLT as soon as the fireworks started.

Favorite DVC event you've ever attended: Moonlight Magic at Hollywood Studios

Favorite DVC Trip and Why: The next one! They've all been great, but I do love the lead up, planning restaurants, parks, resorts.

If DVC would grant three wishes, I would want them to: Include a couple annual passes or park tickets every year would be incredible. Quick service and booze discounts. Automatically apply all discounts (restaurants, merch etc) at time of checkout.

DVC Resorts you own at: BLT

Funniest DVC Memory: Not sure anything really "funny" has happened so far.

Favorite DVC event you've ever attended: Have not been lucky enough to attend a DVC Event. :(

Favorite DVC Trip and Why: September 2022, Mom/Daughter trip after my Daughters boyfriend dumped her 3 weeks before their planned trip. Purchased a last minute ticket on her flights, took his park ticket, cancelled car rental, cancelled romantic ADR's and flew by the seat of our pants on a heart healing trip.

If DVC would grant three wishes, I would want them to: Offer better ticket discounts for DVC. Not all DVC Members go enough to make the Sorcerer's Pass worth it (not until I retire at least). So better ticket prices would help.

Quick Service Dining Discounts.

Have the ability to bank points more than once. Like bank 2025 points into 2026, didn't use them, bank them into 2027.

Funniest DVC Memory: During welcome home week in 2024, when meeting Kristoff at the Contemporary, my 4 year old asks him “What is love?” He played it off well after pausing for a moment like did a little kid just ask me that 😂

Favorite DVC event you've ever attended: The welcome home week events were cool! Hoping for Moonlight Magic at HS this summer🤞

Favorite DVC Trip and Why: Summer 2023, stayed in 1 bedroom at AKV in a Savanna view room with our son. It was just a perfect trip and seeing WDW through his eyes for the first time was everything. This summer may rival this trip as it will be my daughter’s first time there!

If DVC would grant three wishes, I would want them to:
1. Offer perks for length of stay, even if it has to be consecutive at a resort. Stay 3 consecutive nights get a free QS meal, 7 nights a free souvenir at the gift shop up to x amount, 10 nights free TS meal, 14 nights etc
2.) Discount on Minnie Van service
3.) Ability to pick your room when you check in. Show me a map of what is available and projected ready time, let me decide what to prioritize. Getting into a room ASAP or waiting around for my preferred location.

FYI - your #3 is actually already possible. It's the primary reason I never do online checkin - I like to go to the desk, ask them if any of my room requests came through...if not, then I'll ask for the next best option of what's available - and we'll go through what rooms and buildings are possible - I'll let them know I'm willing to wait if the room isn't ready. I've never had a problem doing this at any of the DVC resorts so far.

I just got back from a trip the 2nd week of December at Saratoga Springs where I wasn't able to get one of my requested rooms, but was able to find a room that I liked that was on a 1st floor in the exact location and building I requested (I like 2nd or 3rd floors when available) - it was a better option than the available room I had been assigned facing the parking lot at Saratoga Springs' Congress Park section, so I went with the room that wasn't ready yet, facing Downtown Disney and the lake on the 1st floor, and went over to Disney Springs for a few hours until I got the text.

Funniest DVC Memory: Coming off of a red eye flight and being deliriously tired and walking to our room at AKV, the hallway just kept going and going and going… all 3 of us just started laughing more and more the longer we walked and me trying to tell the others to be quiet because people are sleeping all while I couldn’t stop laughing either. Just like this cant be real right now this hallway. Are we dreaming?!

Favorite DVC event you've ever attended: Moonlight Magic

Favorite DVC Trip and Why: My 1st stay at Boardwalk and 2nd stay at WDW ever. We are new to WDW and we just love everything there. And Boardwalk just gave me the feels every single day with the artwork.

If DVC would grant three wishes, I would want them to:
  1. No more banking and borrowing final transaction rules. I dont like that kind of commitment!
  2. Bring back the Premier Annual Passport exclusive to DVC members. (bicoastal AP)
  3. Actually put a stop to commercial renting. (yes this is how strongly I feel about commercial renting)

I'll play along...

Funniest DVC Memory: Hmmm, trying to think of something...

Favorite DVC event you've ever attended: Moonlight Magic at Disneyland! (although Epcot was awesome too). But there was something very special about the Disneyland one...

Favorite DVC Trip and Why: Hmmmm.... Another tough one. So many memories have been made over the years. And so many amazing trips.

If DVC would grant three wishes, I would want them to: Bring back the Premier Pass (the AP for both Disneyland and WDW). Have Moonlight Magic back in Disneyland park (DCA is just not the same). Have the CA DVC meetings actually in CA at our homes!
I also would love all 3 of your wishes.

DVC Resorts you own at: too many and not enough

Funniest DVC Memory: first time at Disneyland dvc lounge. We thought we were in line for the lounge but we were in line for a Star Wars meet and great. We were told you can go in now and we found ourselves face to face with darth maul who was sort of hiding. I screamed and darth maul in character came at me. I ran out while our kids started cracking up. Dh stood there speechless, trying to process what was going on.

Favorite DVC event you've ever attended: moonlight magic animal kingdom where our then 10 and 9 year olds both won stuffed animals at the dinoland carnival with free tickets (so sad dinoland is gone 🙁).

Favorite DVC Trip and Why:

Our first time staying at Disneyland hotel. Couldn’t believe how much we loved it. We had purchased a small contract but ended up purchasing more points because we loved it so much.

If DVC would grant three wishes, I would want them to:
1. Make it so that you have to scan a barcode for discounts like at universal
2. Make it so that borrowing is reversible
3. Make handicap accessible rooms their own booking category at Wdw, Vero, and HHI. If I book a grand villa, I’m not expecting to walk into a kitchen where the counter hits my mid-thighs and the sink has no disposal.

My DD of similar age won stuff also. I'd forgotten about that. She got to use all our tickets.

This last AK MM that I attended by myself back in October just didn't seem as fun. Probably because I was by myself. I still had a bit of fun but also left pretty early.
