DVC - how hard is it to book - feeling concerned

Disney has a bunch of older properties that they sell. I was talking to my DVC guide yesterday and he told me all about it. Currently they have Saratoga, poly, boulder ridge, beach club and I think grand Floridian. They are offered at a lower price per point and don’t hold the restrictions that buying through a third party reseller do

You either misunderstood or were outright lied to.

Disney has an inventory of points at every resort and will sell them when they can. You may have to get on a waiting list.
They sell points to every sold out resort every month, albeit not always a whole lot of them.

However, Direct from Disney,
Points at Animal Kingdom are 176
Aulani 195
Baly Lake 225
Beach Club 225
Boardwalk 190
Boulder Ridge 176
Copper Creek 210
Old Key West 156
Poly 225
Riviera 195
Saratoga 160
Grand Floridian 245

True you will not have the restrictions but they are in no way offered at a lower price per point.

Its either Direct from Disney at those prices, or on the resale market. There is no "resale direct from disney" at discounted prices or anything like that.

Also worth mentioning: Anything but AUL or RIV are not eligible for purchase incentives.

I believe OKW is $165/pt...

We have been going in Jan for the past 20 years and I have to say that Jan has gotten much busier over the years. I guess the secret is out about low crowds and cooler weather. We are currently at WDW and this has been the busiest year yet. We changed rooms last Saturday and the cast member told us that there is no such thing as a slow time anymore. That being said I have always had luck in the past to change resorts reservation at the 7 month mark but going forward who know...

the increased crowds are likely due to ROTR opening up in December. I was there in October and it was a ghost town relatively speaking. Just got back from WDW (stayed 1/25-31) and it was as crowded as I have seen it. DHS was a madhouse the whole day. 45 minutes to ride TOT at a 7 am rope drop!!!

With that said -- crowds are likely only going to get worse. There are a lot of big ticket rides coming online over the next two years leading up to the 50th anniversary. Tron, Guardians, Ratatouille, Mickeys railway to name a few.
