I am waitlisted for the DVC location at Hilton Head Island. I am holding a room at the Marriott just in case my waitlist doesn't come through. My question is, as a DVC member (with valid ID) can I still use all of the DVC facilities both at the beach and at the resort even if I am not staying there? Do I have to be a staying guest to use the DVC beach house there?

Thanks...

Sadly you can't use the upper area around the pool which includes restaurant, etc. need a resort card to get into that area. They can't really do too much with the beach area and if u land up at the Marriott your right next door. To the other side is the Dunes beach which has a great beach bar, restaurant and facilities. I personally like this area better!

DVC resorts do not offer day use at all.

As noted, you can't use the beach house if you're not booked at the Disney resort. . .technically. As for the main resort, the pool is off limits; however, there is nothing stopping you from visiting the main resort and walking around, shopping, and buying something to eat at the snack bar. We do it every trip to HHI since we can get our Mickey waffle fix, and we've been unable to get a room there since we always travel during July. We drive up to the gate, buzz the CM at the main desk, and simply say we're here to visit and grab a Mickey waffle or two. FWIW, the Marriott is nice, especially if you pay a bit more and get a room facing the ocean.

Thanks. I'm both happy and sad with your response. :-):guilty:

At least I will be able to see the place.

I did spring for an ocean front room.

Any recommendations for dining in the island? Other than a Mickey waflle is the food any good at DVC HHI?

Thanks for the insight.

We just got back from HH and visited the beach house many times. Our condo was literally right next door to the beach house. There is a side window where we could order food or dole whips or Mickey Bars. We’d also bike over to the main resort and got Mickey waffles there, and visited the gift shop.

There are so many wonderful options for dining at HHI, and we've barely touched the surface after three trips there. Still, here are a few we've enjoyed over the years:
- Skull Creek Boathouse is good with perhaps the best low country boil around. Good wine and drink list, too. No reservations allowed, so get there early or be prepared to wait.
- Fish Camp at Broad Creek is also a very nice place. Sit outside and enjoy the oysters. Excellent views and service.
- Black Marlin is good, also has seating outside (actually, most places do). Views are just okay, but the food is above average.
- If you enjoy Italian, I highly recommend OMBRA Cucina. It's an upscale and topnotch restaurant, voted best Italian on HHI for years.
Again, there are many other places that have very good menus and food.

As for the other food at the Disney resort, it's pretty typical QS stuff. Still, it is a taste of Disney.
