DVC has really changed our vacations.....slowly at first....but it hit me this trip

Now try staying for a couple weeks or more. Disney becomes like a second home to you.

I think this is why I enjoy SSR so much. If you're going to "live" at Disney, SSR and OKW provide more of that home-away-from-home retreat feeling, IMHO.

It's also why I enjoy going in the Fall and December most. Those special events make for a more interesting trip to a park.

We do the APs because they remove all obligation of commando touring or being in a park every day. You feel very decadent waltzing into Magic Kingdom 30 minutes before Wishes having spent the entire morning sleeping in, the afternoon at the pool, and evening having dinner at a resort.

April will be our 2nd trip home and it will be totally un commando. The first trip was great but we had my sister and her dd so we did a lot more running than we would have if it was just us. This time it is just me, dd and dh, 5 nights at Vero Beach and 4 nights at AK we are doing a park one day. The rest will just be relaxing, spa, golf for dh and enjoying the resort.

Absolutely, Denise! Though I've never tried APs (would like to some day), we have found that we enjoy spending time doing other things at WDW. We're going spring break for a week, and only have 3 "park" days planned (a water park, MK and AK and/or HS). Going to the Boardwalk and DTD are as much a part of visiting WDW for us as the parks are. We'll spend time at the resort pool, and head over to DTD or the BW for the evening.

My kids are a little younger than yours (DS-13 and DD-6), but if given the choice, they would rather spend a few days at the resort pool or the water park. Both of my kids LOVE the water, so it's nice to have all of the options we have. That's why we purchased points at VB, too.

Speaking of beaches, I have to just love my DH. We always do a split stay in the summer (a week at the beach and a week at Dis). He looked at me last year and said that for the first time, he'd rather spend less days at the beach and more time at WDW. He just really loved WDW and has such a good time there! ::yes:: Now that, my friends, is a true breakthrough!!! Kids will come and go, but you need the DHs/DWs to drink and enjoy the kool-aid as much as you do! :lmao:

I see you go to Vero....I have another thread asking about Vero. I think we might venture out there for 3 or 4 days this summer instead of doing 7 nights at BCV and 2 at AKV. My oldest son would love a summer beach trip.

Hmmmm another Vero lover huh?? I want to maybe try Vero this summer in July.

I think you have graduated (with honors) from girl to mom (of the family).... Yes, you do understand... sometimes for some getting started is hard. Sometimes WE understand that WE are early risers and hey... it's kind of nice having some early time to just myself... watching things wake up, and the people getting the grounds ready... I love this time :thumbsup2 Things smell clear and look clear, and are clear... I get a chance to see how things work at this time. Both nature and Disney.

You are very wise my friend very wise. I couldn't agree more. :thumbsup2

We were the same way my family didn't like going to WDW with us because we were always in a hurry. Now we do get up late and we don't feel bad about getting to the parks late. Though my kids are die hards and they do like to close the parks when they have EMH.

Interesting thread. Our past two trips were the same way. Only about 4 hours at the parks and the rest relaxing. One day we went to Universal from 9-12, villa pool 1-2, Blizzard Beach from 2-4, relax at the villas and then dinner at Epcot at 7. We would never had done this on our past visits. It would have seemed like a wasted time at WDW......but not any more

DH doesn't get sad when we're due to leave because he knows we'll be back. I can't say that, I still get sad. We were never park commandos, and the best "new" thing is we do relax over breakast in our room, with me usually on the balcony.
