DVC has lost focus

I was also wondering which benefits have been reduced to the point where there is no advantage to being a DVC member. (I wasn't around back when they were offering free park tickets to DVC members) ...

The free park pass program wasn't even a perk - it was a sales incentive offered to early buyers at OKW and VB and ended when HH and BWV began sales. The free passes were scheduled to end 12/31/99 right from the beginning and there was never any doubt that would happen. While some did lament losing it as a perk, it was only an incentive to buy and has been replaced with other incentives time and again over the years.

I agree that I don't see where DVC benefits have been reduced over the years. We can all think of some that have ended and some that have been added and some that fall into both categories.

This topic always puzzles me. I'm very happy with most of the discounts offerred to DVC members. Recently, I think we've even been rewarded in a very positive way:
- AP discount went up to FL resident discount
- Tables in Wonderland is now available
- Added a member cruise (that they can't seem to sell out)
- Added cruise discounts on the specialty cruises
- Continue to offer discounts on tours, shows, some dining, etc.
- Offer discounts on hard ticketed events (MVMCP, MNSSHP)
- Offer Dining Plan with no ticket requirement and without seasonal premiums
- Offer 25% cash room discount on DVC rooms not booked with points
- Member events (Merry Mixer) with free food and gifts
- Etc. etc. etc.

I think there was a lull where it felt like perks were pulled back or minimalized, but as of late, they've picked up and the big ones have remained.

It would be great if they offered a few additional perks:
- Discounted MYW tickets for those of us not close enough for the AP
- Shopping discounts on merchandise (thouh an AP and Disney Visa perk today)
- Extend cash room discount further to all resorts

But, really, we get a pretty good deal.
