To those of you who own points - do you ever hear from your guides? We want to buy into the poly when it goes for sale next week, but I have no clue how to contact him. I also never heard from him once we bought in. Is this typical?

Call them.

I went into the sales office a while back, and they were going to note "Poly-Int" on my account for Poly Interest.

I have not gotten a call. Then again, i am not buying so I am not calling them

I used to get a call once a year from my guide, then she retired and I haven't heard one peep from my new agent. It has been 4 years now and she has never contacted me once. Technically, this is okay since I ma not in the position to do any further points purchases, but can't imagine she is an effective salesperson if she doesn't make the slightest effort.

I get a postcard from my guide every now and again. This level of "touch" is perfect, in my opinion: it keeps the channel open but isn't pushy. I like this guide ... (this is my 2nd guide as my first had left the company).

All guides are different and the time they spend with you is dependent on your prospect rating. If you are a known direct buyer they tend to stay in touch, if they never hear from you, they want to spend their time on buyers.

You can call the DVC sales number to contact your guide.

During the first year or two, I received a few phone calls with updates on available promotions. Now, I sometimes get a "Welcome Home" call a day or two after check in, but it does not always happen.

Honestly, I am not interested in purchasing more points or becoming friends with my guide, so the lack of contact is fine. Actually, to me, my guide is like my insurance agent; I pay my bills and we speak only to discuss changes in ownership.

My original guide was awesome, heard from him all the time. Since he left my guide has changed so many times that I cannot even count. At this time I do not even know who it is and they never contact me other then the advertising mailings. How guides interact seems to have changed a lot since the early days.

Yes we get postcards and such generally once or twice a year.A few phone calls thru the years welcoming us home when we visited WDW but that's about it .Again it's a perfect relationship.

Hasn't changed much, they spend time with people who buy, that's their job. They may be friendly but they aren't your friend, it's a business.

My original guide is long gone. I've heard from 3 or 4 new ones when they were assigned to me, trying to see if I would be interested in more points. I make it clear I'm not interested and I never hear from them again. The last one was trying to talk me into Aulani. I told her only if a prince comes and takes me away.....:rotfl2:

You are right, not a friend but like any good salesman stayed in touch just in case I may want points in future. These new guides do not seem to want to go that extra mile for possible future sales.

Some do, some don't, differences in sales tactics.

Some focus on today, some today and tomorrow. The old timers seem to stay in contact more. I don't know if they are billed for mailings, it wouldn't surprise me. I do know that they are only given XX amount of fast passes to give out and the more they sell they more they are given.

We got a voicemail a couple of months ago from a man introducing himself as our new guide and asking us to contact him if we needed anything. Before that we would get occasional mailings from our old guide. (Maybe once or twice a year). Enough to let us know he was there, but not pushy enough to be annoying.

My guide sends out quarterly e-mails. He calls to remind me of my banking deadline every year. He also has a Facebook page for just his member families where he posts about DVC happenings and his personal family trips. And we get a call every time we go on a trip telling us he hopes we have a great time and to contact him if we need anything.

Oh and he mails a Christmas "card" (it's a magnet calendar) each year with his contact info on it. I really love my guide and he's not even the one I did my original purchase with just the one I did an add on with after my original guide left the company. So he makes it easy to contact him if I need something but I can't think of one time he's tried to initiate me purchasing more points other than posting what's on sale in his e mail's or on his Facebook page.

Same here! Every time we went to WDW, Glenn would leave a message on our voice mail welcoming us home. Then, about a year ago, some woman called just to introduce herself as our new guide. I found out that Glenn had left several years ago (kind of wondered why we stopped getting those "welcome home" calls) and we've had a couple other guides in between. Other than that call we got about a year ago, we haven't heard from her, and since I don't remember her name, we have no idea who our guide is.

I just received a call today from my new guide (our third) ... ask if I had any questions or requests with the new Poly bungalows or rooms.... First call in a very long time.

When we were at AKV in Nov. our guide called and left a voicemail for us.

my first guide left to work on the cruise ship and the next was a woman who was perfect. she sent cards to let me know when anything was coming up that applied to members. discounts for add ons or new resort founding member offers or incentives. :( she retired and i have really missed her.
she was replaced by a young man who is very nice but not as informative. you must contact him with questions instead of him notifying you. he is a little hard to work with, maybe he is just new at this time. ::yes:: maybe grace will come with maturity.
