DVC Golf Tournament?

Anyone know why they don't have the DVC member golf tournament anymore at WDW? The first few years they had it annually in November as a 4 person scramble. It was a lot of fun and always filled up quickly. DVC didn't have to spend much time or $$ promoting it, but all the golfers/hackers enjoyed meeting fellow members and the banquet afterwards. I missed the tournament and never understood why it went the way of honest politicians and nickel beer.

I remember a few years ago, there was a DVC member golf tournament at HH, but was also discontinued. I think it was just for men wasn't it? No women teams or mixed teams that I recall.

The reason given for doing away with the HHI tournament is probably the same as the one at WDW. DVC is just too big. They decided that the resentment from the members who were disappointed when they couldn't participate outweighed the fun and benefit of having the tournament.

They recently hired a new person at HHI, Matt, wo's trying to revitalize the concept of a DVC golf tournament there. He seems very enthusiastic about the idea, having it in May (his thoughts at the moment)-matter of fact, wanted to start it up this year 'til I reminded him of the member events in May at WDW. He wants to have a several day or week-long event, maybe beginning with a family get-together where teams are drawn, perhaps have flights depending on response. He's looking at different courses that he'd recommend to play at. Like I said, he's very enthusiastic about this. Hopefully something will happen-HHI has such opportunities for golf.
