DVC Gold APs already 'Saving me money'....

We weren't originally planning to go during the blackout dates, but seeing as I'm a teacher, we may try to squeeze another trip in before the expiration date of May 26, 2018 since we're activating on May 27 for our first day in a couple of weeks. :-) Now since we have the Gold AP and our spring break falls during the blackout date since we always have Easter off as our spring break week, I'm looking at just upgrading the AP's to a higher level if we do decide to go. OR I may just take a few days off at another time of year and make it a short trip. We'll just have to see how things pan out for us.

Yeah -- I read about that loophole. Basically said if the first few days of your trip are during blackout dates, use your original park tickets like normal, and then after the blackout dates have passed, upgrade your tickets to the gold ap.

I wonder if Disney is aware of this loophole...or if it's just not a big enough deal for them to mess with.

And so it begins... we just bought the APs today for our Oct trip coming up. Didn't have a plan to, but now it seems only logical that we head back with the kids over Spring Break next year to get more use (in addition to the Fall trip we already have planned for next year). We're doing cash trips for Oct and would also for Spring Break. I see more points soon too. Hahahahaha!!

I'm right there with you. Original plan was to go F&W 2016 and then Feb. 2017 with the one set of APs. With the additional 13 month, we moved our Christmas 2017 trip up a week and I also added in an extra solo trip for F&W for 2017. So my wife is getting 3 trips, I'm getting 4 trips and my DW will be getting 3 trips as well (I'll be taking her for her 5th birthday right before her AP expires).

I've also already bought an extra 164 BWV points and 24 one time use points for all of these extra endeavors.

If it wasn't for my wife putting her foot down, I would have already done a quick weekend trip back in march and I was trying to do a quick 3 or 4 night trip in June with just me, my dad and my two DDs (2 and 4).

So far, Sandy and I LOVE our Gold passes. We are DVC owners, and go to WDW twice per year: "Aprilish" (when MI snow ends and the airlines actually fly), and "Novemberish" (just before the snow starts in MI, and the airlines crap out).

In our case, we "downgraded" from Platinum - because we would never GO to WDW around typical blockout dates. For one thing, the DVC point costs skyrocket during those periods. And for us? The airlines just don't perform during XMAS and Spring Break :(.

Bottom line? We saved about $500 on APs for the mid 2017-2018 year :).

I just love shopping on the Shop Parks app and getting the AP discount without even asking after logging in. What a pleasant surprise. :)

We ended up upgrading to the Gold Pass a few weeks ago. We will going back for two runDisney races so it just made more sense to upgrade. We also have Disneyland APs and it was still cheaper to buy the two separate passes than the one Premier Pass.

DVC doesn't save you money, it causes you to vacation more often and spend more money!:banana::banana::dancer::banana::banana::banana:

:earsboy: Bill

Agree. As members we go more often than when we weren't.

With our current AP I only expected to go twice but ending up going 3 times. :D

After 2017 we might take a year off from Disney and DVC. But let's see, sometime things changes :)

Great! I just posted in another thread that very question. I may go during Easter 2018, and I was thinking of doing exactly what you did. Good to know that it worked!
