Hi

Read last month that anyone staying DVC is entitled to free Internet for the duration of their stay. Has this offer already started or if not anyone know when it will begin.

Thanks

Sam

At the Annual Meeting, Jim Lewis reported that members would have free internet "beginning in 2008". No specific start date was mentioned.

A couple of members have reported NOT being charged in the past 2 weeks and many have reported that they have been charged. Some have reported that CMs at their resorts are unaware of any change in the policy - some have reported that the internet company itself has stated that it is free to DVC members. Others report being told that the free service will begin in the spring.

Stay tuned!

I'm here now and internet is NOT free. Rumor has it that it won't start until Spring 2008.

I wasn't charged for internet usage this past October at BWV. I used for 8 days straight and there was nothing on the bill.

I was charged for valet but they promptly removed it. When I asked about the internet the cm just smiled and said I guess there's no charge.

Just got back from Disney.......WOW was it cold the other day!

Anyways, there was NO free internet, the pay screen came up on my laptop when I plugged in. I did call down to the front desk and they searched around for about 5 minutes while I was on hold and they did find a memo about it and told me that "it will be offered FREE to DVC members in SPRING 2008." It is wired connection and they provide you with an ethernet cable that is located in the closet.

That's the latest!

Actually, I think the promise was that members would enjoy free Internet access in 2008...not "...anyone staying DVC." I believe it's intended as a members perc, not a DVC perc.

As usual, the implementation is proceeding with typical Disney precision.

I am in Disney now wasn't charged for the internet at the BWV's :thumbsup2 although I thought I was going to as the screen indicates this when you sign on. I am now in SSR and they told me that you have to pay for it but when I spoke to technical service number they told me to call front desk and tell them to take off the charge as dvc members are not suppose to be charged. Front desk told me to call back tommorrow as the original charge didnt go thru yet so I will let you know what happens.:surfweb:

Will be waiting to hear what they tell you - and I may call as well - at SSR right now and I am being charged for internet - would love to take that charge off of the bill if possible.
Thanks

At AKV Jan 1 to Jan 4, I called the internet help people and they suggested to sign in and then have the front desk remove the charges. I did need to check-out, no folio on door, and did have a $5 game room charge and two nights of internet charges. The CM quickly removed the charges, saying there had been some miscommunication with members, and that free internet would begin in Spring 2008.

The internet help people do not have the same info as the hotel people. However they did specify that if I were renting my points, the renters would pay the internet charges. Only DVC members are eligible for the free internet.

MS told me that free service started 1/1/08(was told that on 12/28 when I called to make Thanksgiving reservations).

So once again the right hand and left hand at DVC don't know what the other is doing.

I just got home from OKW. When I tried to logon, the system gave me that "pay up" screen. I called the front desk, and they transferred me to technical services. I explained that my understanding was "guests staying on points got free internet." She said that was true, and suggested I just click on the OK on the initial screen. She said it will seem like it is charging me, but it won't.

Well - my express check-out bill was on the door handle my last morning there (Saturday) and it had the internet charges on it!?! I went to the front desk and explained that tech services told me I would not be charged. The desk manager said their understanding was that it wasn't free until some time this spring, but since tech services said it was, he took it off my bill.

So - it wasn't free, but I got it free anyway. :cool2:
