My wife mentioned that it would be great to buy into DVC, and if we could coordinate our trips with the Free Dinning upon occasion that would be awesome !

The more I think about it, it seems too good to be true, as a DVC owners can we participate in the free dinning promotions ?

We are planning on purchasing as soon as we see a good enough incentive, no hurry to buy, we were just at Disney 2 weeks ago.

The free dining incentives require you to book a hotel room for cash and pay the full rack rate (no discount off the rack rate). So no, you can't get free dining as a DVC member.

No, DVC members staying on points are not eligible to enjoy free dining.

Sure you can get free dining as a DVC member. You just have to pay for it like the rest of the "free diners".

You would have to book the free dining package through CRO. I checked it out for my 6 night BWV stay in a 1 bedroom in late October. For 2 adults with the 2 day ticket purchase requirement it was over $3,800. :scared1: Vs 170 points plus $500 to add the dining plan.

You can buy the dining plan, but you can't get it free. What you need to figure out is if you plan to take yearly vacations over many years, will it be more of a discount for you to join DVC and pay for a dining plan, or to plan to book a rack rate package with tickets to get the free dining? That will depend on a few things...if Disney keeps offering free dining, and if you prefer deluxe resorts, for example.

As a DVC member, you also get a discount on an annual pass - and if you get an annual pass you're eligible to buy a membership in Tables in Wonderland, a dining discount program for annual passholders/Florida residents. DVC members also get some percentage discounts at some restaurants at DTD and the Swan/Dolphin (these restaurants do not accept the Disney Dining Plan at all.)

If we rent points from someone, and are not dvc members, can we add the dining plan to our tickets?

Yes, you can add the dining plan (rather, you can have the member you rent from add it for you because Member Services will deal only with the actual member). But you will need to pay for it, you won't get it free.
