Anyone else have their eye on these cabins and wish they were offered under our DVC membership?

We have gone over to Ft.Wilderness multiple times over the years to ride bikes, walk around and enjoy the resort. I really like it over there, and wish these cabins were offered under our DVC membership. It is such a cool place, we especially enjoy seeing many of the sites decorated for Halloween when we usually make our October trip.

I love FW and always visit when we are staying at VWL and BLT. Someday we'll stay in the little cabins too. And you can trade into the Disney collection for the cabins. Unlike the campsites they have the $95 fee but you can still do it if you wish to use points rather than pay cash thru CRO.

There are future plans for DVC to move into fort wilderness, don't know when or what it will look like for sure but my guess is that the will offer some cabins just like they are offering bungalows at PVB and cabins at VWL.

I love the cabins at FW! We have stayed there on cash & also points. I know it's not the best use of points, but we had a very relaxing vacation! I would love to see DVC there.

The cabins are OK but I do not consider them something I would want as part of DVC. They are a lot smaller than they look. Six sleeping spots but that consists of a double and two bunks in the small bedroom for which there is hardly any room left to move about in, and a pull out double in the living room leaving essentially no room left in that room when the bed is down. They have only one small bathroom, a very small kitchen area, and no w/d. Actually putting six in one is an extremely tight fit.

Now the possibility of having a FW DVC is something to actually consider, and in fact Disney's plans to have one leaked several years ago, but what those plans show is that a new DVC would consist of a lot of new construction closer to the lake than the cabins are, see http://dvcnews.com/index.php/resorts/other--proposed-resorts/2480-ft-wilderness-dvc-plans-leaked. There has been no progress on building that new DVC since initial plans were leaked and it is unknown whether it will ever be done.

IMO Iger wants Potrock to prove his ability prior to taking on a large project like Fort Wilderness. The proposed project also involves moving existing buildings, Pioneer Hall, the stables, beach, and more. VWL should be a good indicator of his abilities since PVB was on the books prior to his taking over DVD/DVC and ABD.

Yep. I have no interest in them being part of DVC.

For me, it would be another DVC experience at a very unique resort. A new hotel would be preferable, but to have the option for the cabins would be great. The new Poly DVC only has studios (except for the bungalows which are pricey). We could make the cabins work. Plus, we don't spend a lot of time in the room. It's parks, activities, and pool time for us. We really are only in the rooms to sleep or grab a bite to eat. Another reason why we always book standard view rooms.
