DVC Food & Wine, Both Coasts

I just booked two trips for both Food & Wine events. In California, we are staying at Paradise Pier, as the GCV are not ready yet, so no kitchen. We will be doing the complimentary events, as most of the good stuff is either sold out, or too expensive during the dates we are there. Guy Fieri is $185.00 per person!
As such we'll be doing the various Celebrate venues. Carribean, Canada, New Zealand, France etc. We'll get good wines to take back to the room. There are Kitchen Conversion seminars, and Beer and Spirits Seminars.
In Florida we have a 1 bedroom at OKW, and plan to attend the seminars there, and then recreate the food in our DVC kitchen.
Next year the GCV will be open, and we plan to book a 2 bedroom so "foodie friends" can stay with us and geek out on food, and wine.

I have to be in California for work the first week in June and am playing around with staying at least ONE day to get to this event. We will see. I will be off site since my company won't pay Disney hotel rates and I am out of points (and to be honest I won't pay Disney hotel rates. For what you pay I generally am disappointed!)

I would only have a day or day and a half so I just don't know.....

I'll be doing the F&W Festival on both coasts two. In just 2 weeks I'll be doing it at Disneyland, followed by the east coast version at WDW in October.

I was at Disneyland last year for F & W. I didn't do any special events but they didn't have near as many food booths.

They mentioned on the Podcast that the California edition of F&W is a totally different experiance. At first they didn't care for it because they kept compairing it to EPCOT's F&W. Once they stopped compairing they really loved California's version.

My hubby and I won tickets to one of the F & W receptions in Cali from DVC! Our guide called us the other day and told us to pick a date that we wanted to attend!

When I am cooking a Disney recipe dinner in my DVC, I recall a Disney song from my childhood, called "Rutabega Rag". I found it on I Tunes by Paul Frees.
Disney really needs to play this song somewhere in the parks during Food & Wine.

This sounds like great fun! I plan on doing the DLR F&W next May..Hope you all do in depth trip reports with lots of photos!

I am sorry but to compare the parks just sets you up for a "bad vacation" and I would have thought that the podcast folks would have known that (Got to admit I do not really like the DIS Unplugged. Too much "pontification" and "whining" for my taste LOL!)

But I would go expecting something totally different. I mean they don't have Epcot so why would they try to "recreate" it there?

We just heard from friends, saying that the event is much bigger this year.

You def. can not compare the two. I actually enjoy California Adventure's much more. I find it way more relaxing. There are no food booths, and there probably never will be due to restrictions in CA. That allows for plenty of walking room and time for the many, many free and wonderful events throughout the day.
