DVC extending expiration date for banked points

After two hours I finally got through to Member services I had 2019 Boulder Ridge Villas that will expire on November 30,2021. I was told that there was no way that Disney is letting anyone extend 2019 points . Is this correct?

Not sure what happened. Perhaps the CM you spoke with isn't up to date. I know it's frustrating, but it wouldn't hurt to send an email through your dvc member account or try the chat.

Earlier in our membership (19yrs now!), if I knew that the CM was not providing me the correct info, I would just call back. In all cases, I was able to do what I needed. But I haven't had to do that in a long time. However, with all the pandemic policy changes, it may not be communicated across the board. This is why I was concerned that it wasn't posted anywhere.

I did send an email this morning. Hoping for the best. Thanks to all for your replies.

This was my experience, but I think it was because I had booked a trip using those banked points that I had to cancel. I think the rules were complicated. My 2019 banked points (April UY) were not available to bank this year, and they expired yesterday. :sad1:

Depending on when you contacted them, it may have just recently changed. The points that they said they would extend for me are technically points that I banked from my Dec 2019 UY to my Dec 2020 UY...so it would expire at the end of Nov 2021.

I'm not sure if it's different from your banked Apr 2019 points to Apr 2020 which expired yesterday. Both our points expire this year. We both "can't" travel this year before the end of our UY so I'm not sure why it's different in your case. However, if they have different rules for different UY s, then that could be the issue, but I'm not sure why they would.

When I told the CM that Canadians were asked not to travel. She said that she understood and that they changed their policy for international members since we can't easily travel there at this time. This alone tells me that any member that lives outside US that cannot bank their points and therefore will expire sometime this year, would be afforded the extension to May 2022.

Since I only inquired about my Dec UY points, I don't know if my assumption is incorrect.

I confirmed this through the online chat feature on the DVC site as well. I'll have to wait until my Sept use year to get the extension on my VGC points.

It's better than just losing them or scrambling to rent them out. I may still rent them out eventually but it's nice to have a bit of extra time to work with and see what happens with the borders.
