DVC exchange

Does anyone know of a thread about exchanges. Or pehaps a site where I can find info on it and others experiences with exchanging.
We have friends who are debating Marriott and Disney. As they will not go to WDW every year they want to know the exchange hardships before they decide..
I guess we should have found this out before we joined too.

There's quite a bit of information on the DVC Member web site. You might want to read through that yourself, or print out for your friend.

Regular exchanges don't tend to be the most economical use of DVC points, so your friends might want to consider just buying half as many points as they would need for a typical stay, and baking their points every other year. Example: If they would need 300 pts for a typical stay, they could buy 150 and bank a year forward for each trip.

Marriott will have trouble exchanging into DVC and exchanging is not a good use of DVC points in most situations. They may want to consider both with less DVC points.
