What do you all think about the new DVD? I just played it and what a waste. I guess if you are new to the whole DVC thing it is enlightening, but for us current members....? Everyone I mention DVC to nowadays says it is way to expensive to purchase direct from Disney. I tell them to buy resale instead if they want in, save a few bucks.

I'd rather see Disney give us DVCers more discounts rather than spending millions sending out these stupid DVDs

Just my opinion.

Hanname a good night y'all
:cheer2:

I thought it was fairly well done and informative it is after all for those of us that are members to hand out to others not to keep that wasn't the point of hte DVD. As for discounts we don't use the ones we currently get so it really doesn't matter to us.

I would love to just get one in the mail! I am still waiting. I called member services, but the gal I talked to didnt know anything about it. Go figure! :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Isn't the DVD for perspective buyers and not existing owners??? What purpose is the DVD for existing owners?

CC the DVD came to members so we can pass it out to others to watch to get them interested.

I actually know a potential buyer who wants to watch the DVD. If only they would send me one.

YesYourMajesty-We just got ours today. Have not viewed it yet. But did read the cover and it did say to pass it on to your friends.

I thought we were the only ones not to get one. Would love to see it.

Thanks for the info. As soon as I get it and watch it a few dozen times (I have a few months to go til my next trip, and need a Disney fix ;) ) I will pass it on to my friend.

Wow, usually the Canadian DVC owners get their mail for special gatherings after they have happened but I already have my DVD.

I liked it but it did not show enough about the resorts for my liking. It was meant to pass onto someone who might be interested but more resort footage would have been good. :goodvibes

As for the discounts, I just want to be able to add packages to my reservation! The new Disney meals deal is unbelievable but my party of 12 can't take advantage of it because the systems are not "linked". I feel ripped off!

Being on a DVD, you would think that they would have used more video. I realize that video production is a lot more expensive but look how great the WDW website has become.

We finally got ours today, but I haven't watched it yet.

Boring, waste of money. JMHO
Little on the resorts, too. Who wants to sit thru all those room plans?!? I would have liked more actual pics of the resorts and rooms.

Thought is was rather useless, not because we've owned for years, but because it gave very little information. I think the old videos with "karen" were much more informative and helpful. But I also think the newest free video for wdw is also pretty lame. The "cool" guy, or whatever he's supposed to be, just really turned me off.

I didn't like it either....too much work just to watch it, you can't set the remote down. Not enough video of the resorts themselves. JMHO.

I have to agree. It is a nice video, but if they are really making it for new buyers they should have included more of the actual resorts and the rooms themselves. A lot of the footage is old stuff.

I just ordered one and the read this post. I have an OLD DVC VHS tape from years ago when I wanted to buy in and DH wasn't interested. I want to understand how it all works. Does the DVD at least explain that? :confused3

That is funny. I was trying to show my Mom some pics of SSR and I put in the new WDW DVD. Even she thought the "cool" guy was the biggest dork ever. :rotfl2:

Yup. I agree. A non-DVC friend of mine watched it with me a couple of days ago. The response: "It didn't actually tell me much about what all those people said was so great. You know...like one of those "Lose 100 Pounds In A Month" infomercials full of testimonials? But the Disney pictures were nice."

Gack! I think Disney really goofed with this one. :sad2:

Millions??? Well, I'm sure you meant that in jest. Anyway the DVD is to promote the sale of Timeshares, and therefore could not come out of any of our dues, etc. It would have to come out of the Sales Department's funds, and I'm pretty sure that money comes from sales itself. So you can probably guess that part of the new price increase is to help pay for that DVD. It's a sure bet that none of the Sales' departments advertising funds are ever used to give more general benefits to existing members.

BTW, while the upfront costs for the DVD might be pretty steep, the actual production costs are minimal. The postage for each mailing was probably more than the cost of the DVD itself, in the quantities we're looking at.
