Lisa F's post asking about dues history mentioned a great idea.
so i went ahead and ran some numbers + modified Caskbill's Dues table to create the following table:

UPDATE 12/29/03:
i found some old posts that listed VBR's 2003 subsidized rates.
all 3 tables have been recalculated using this new data (also some minor rounding changes due to new figures i found listing out to 4 decimal places for previous dues notices)

(EDIT: Tables can now be referenced by clicking the link in my signature.)

enjoy!

btw, here is the Link to Caskbill's Dues History Table, which was the inspiration for this whole post. the new copy of his table is posted below as well, with some updates to the figures.

Thanks Disneyberry!

Pretty interesting to see it that way! It certainly makes the increases this year look pretty well within the range of "normal" for the history of DVC.

Lisa, good idea.
hope Caskbill doesn't mind.

i'm adding a 2004 row for next year's dues (and changed the background color slightly).

UPDATE 12/29/03:
i have found the 2003 subsidized dues figure, and have updated this table.
there are also some minor rounding changes due to new numbers i discovered listing dues estimates out to 4 decimal places.

(EDIT: Tables can now be referenced by clicking the link in my signature above.)

LOL. Lisa, you were doing the same thing, i see! ;)

(btw, for those who were wondering, Lisa had put up a copy of Caskbill's table, which i thought was a good idea, and so i put another copy w/ 2004 row, but at the same time Lisa was adding the 2004 row too, heh)

Thanks disneyberry. It is interesting to see the % of increases for the different resorts over the years.

So for the last piece of information, do you want to put up a third table that shows the absolute difference in dues? Like this year for BWV it is +$.14, OKW is +$.19 etc. It was a disaster last time I tried to edit that table to add 2004 so I just figured you could do it faster (and save me some embarassment!)

I hope Caskbill doesn't mind also, but definately all credit to him for the original table.

disnberry
thank you for the table with the exact amount of dues, for each dvc resort, each year. I find it more valuable than the table with only % increase

why are the annual dues at vero beach, dramatically higher than hilton head?? I do not know much about dvc resorts, not on site

Kansas, don't thank me for the 2nd table... that's a copy of Caskbill's table, so i certainly cannot take credit for that.
(i provided a link in the first post to Caskbill's original post)

all i did was make a small change to add a row for 2004.

as for the absolute difference (3rd table idea), IMO that data is not really as relevant. it took me a while to assemble the first percentage table... so i'm done w/ tables for the day. heh.

Kansas, I'm not positive why HHI and VB are so different in their dues. My guess is that Vero has amenities in place for a larger resort than actually was built. A smaller number of people are financing the resort so the "per member" costs are higher.

Since each resort has opened the maintenance fees have increased on an average annual compound rate of:

OKW 3.0%
VBR 3.4%
HH 2.5%
BWV 1.8%
VWL 3.9%
BCV 5.3%

Inflation since 1991 has increased at an average annual compound rate of 2.5% and moderate resort rates since 1994 at 4.9%. (rates actually peaked in 2002 and dropped in 2003, staying steady in 2004 -- 3.3% average annual decrease since 2002).

Disneyberry, nice job. We really enjoyed our OKW membership those years the dues actually went down.:p

Thanks for providing credit for the original table. But even there, while I created the chart, the information in it was passed along by several other members including Doc, Nick, and others. It just goes to show we're all one big happy family.:teeth:

BTW....Doing charts or tables for the DIS board. Are we having fun yet?

... so i'm done w/ tables for the day. heh.
I know exactly what you mean. Just wondering if you recreated the chart in Excel and exported and formatted, or if you just modified the HTML code directly. Either way, it is involved.

modified the HTML code directly. what was a pain was when i first modified it, the html editor i was using formatted the HTML with spacing + tabs. then i realized on the DISboards, you have to remove every single space/carriage return/tab. since i don't have something like Dreamweaver to work with, i just manually edited out every space/carriage return/tab in my text editor! that's why i said that's enough tables for one day. i don't want to have to do that again! heh.

Jim, i added average and median figures to my original table earlier tonight. hmm... i think my #s are a little different from yours 'cause i'm using dues figures out to 4 decimal places where i have them.

btw, do you have BCV's 2004 dues rate? just wondering 'cause you said you don't have the VWL rate yet, but you didn't say that about BCV.
i haven't seen BCV's rate posted on the boards yet.

Not as bad of an increase $wise as I thought it would be.
But the % at OKW seem to be creeping up there.

Thanks to all for their efforts and posting

Peace

Thank you for these charts (caskbill, disneyberry and everyone else). I've found them very informative.

FWIW, I have not received my BCV statement yet.

I thought the data would be useful to see to determine if the higher %age increases at the other resorts were because those dues started out lower OR if some of the resorts with cheaper dues are actually catching up to the resorts with higher dues. I figured you had figured out some easy way to edit the table that I was missing since I messed it up when I tried!

I think they are higher because of insurance. Think what the rate must be in that area. Yes they are both on the shore, but I think the wind damage part of the rate will be higher in FL then SC. With being an actuary, his is my best guess.
