I've got a question concerning ticket price changes. The way I understand it, anyone can get a discount on UPH passes ( LOS) by ordering in advance. If a DVC member orders in advance do they get the advance purchase discount plus their DVC discount or do they just get the advance purchase discount? OR.....if we only get one discount on UPH, then it really doesn't matter. I mean.... we can get a discount if we order in advance or if we just wait and purchase at check-in. Same difference? I know I'm rambling now but if this is the case, then the DVC perk only applies if you buy at check-in.

The DVC discount is 10% and can only be used when buying the tickets at check in.

The advanced purchase discount is not as much, though if you do that with a Disney Club discount (not DVC) the rate is only a few bucks higher than the 10% DVC discount at check in.

One difference that can make a big difference in total cost is that when you purchase in advance you must buy the tickets for your entire length of stay....where if you buy them at check in you are generally permitted to drop the first and/or last nights. That can drop your cost considerably, especially if you're arriving late your first day and leaving early your last day.

Or at least this is my understanding of the situation as it is now....I will be posting a question myself momentarily to confirm some other details.

I thought that you could only purchase them in advance as part of a package.

Apparently you can purchase them in advance without a package...though I do believe you need to have reservations at a Disney resort. (wouldn't make sense otherwise, would it?)

I called the Disney Club line to get the new prices and the wonderful lady I spoke to gave me the rates for just about anything I could want.. with advance purchase, with Disney Club and at the gate or resort. It didn't seem that I'd have any problem purchasing UPH's in advance.

My Hubby and I just purchased 350 points at BCV and are also in the figuring out stage of what is better. UPH versus Annual Pass. We have 5 nights in November andwill probably return for another 5 nights AUgust of 2003 and maybe a few more days in November 2003 as well. The Disney Club offers a discount on the Annual Pass (whereas the DVC doesn't). We figure it is cheaper to do the Annual Pass when you're planning on staying for 14 days or more per year at WDW but your better off with the UPH at check in with the DVC discount especially if you're arriving late or departing early since the first and/or last day can be dropped.:Pinkbounc

Here's a response from Member Services that I received on this topic:

Hello Frank,

Thank you for your e-mail.

I would like to confirm that you do still need to purchase The Unlimited Park
Hopper Tickets upon arrival to receive the 10% discount. During circumstances of
late arrival or extreme early departures the Front Desk has been known to drop
off the date not needed, so if you had been staying 10 nights, but were arriving
late on your date of arrival, they would allow you to purchase a nine night
duration ticket.

As a Disney Vacation Club Member, you will receive a 10% discount only off of
the Ultimate Park Hopper ticket only when staying at a Disney Vacation Club
Resort. Please present your Disney Vacation Club ID card at time of purchase.
All rates subject to change.
