We are renting points to stay at BWV. We are considering purchasing once we have actually stayed there. What are the most significant discounts DVC owners receive? Are they all transferable to the renter? Thanks, Sharon

Technically, renters are not entitled to any of the DVC discounts.

That said, your KTTW card will probbly say DVC member on it. If so, you may be able to take advantage of the free valet parking (tip not incl) at BWV, VWL or BCV, and the dining discounts (you'll get a list at check in). Many of the restaurants are now asking to see the blue DVC membership card before authorizing the discounts, though, so it is best to ask before you count on it. Unless you are vacationing during a "black out" period, you may also be able to pool hop.

Once you buy, the best perk IMHO, is the $100 discount offered for APs ($125 off the price of a PAP).

FWIW, the discounts and perks can and do change. Best not to base any part of your purchase decision on them - they are not part of your contract. Consider them the icing on the cake.

Have fun on the trip!

Best wishes -

Sharon....Carol gave some great feedback on the perks for DVC members. Yes, they are temporary, and yes the $100 discount on adult AP's is probably the best discount because it then activates all the AP discounts (which in most cases are better than the DVC discounts).

If the AP doesn't work for you, the DVC card will still get you 10% discounts at a lot of restaurants.

But as Carol said, the discounts may change over time. They should not be the basis for deciding to purchase DVC or you may be upset later if they disappear.

Good luck in your decision and have a great trip!

Note on the AP that I had to show my blue DVC Membership card to obtain the discounted ticket.

Quite a few members also stated that they were required to show their blue member card to get dining discounts, pool hop, etc.

Just a FYI, when valet parking at BWV this past May, I was asked for my blue DVC card.

My guide told me yesterday that more restaurants and places are added all the time too. He said that food discounts made up the majority of the discounts available, but also could save on tickets to Cirque in DTD. Also, since there's a DVC office in CA now, they are adding discount places there too!
