DVC discounts as a renter...

If I rent points for Sun to Thurs stay but wish to stay over the weekend with a cash reservation would the DVC member make that reservation for me as well? I am worried that if I make the reservation myself we wouldn't be guaranteed the same room and we would not wish to pack up and move for 2 nights. If the member would make that reservation for me would the member be entitled to any discount that could be passed on? I know some of you are going to hate me for this question, sorry! Thank you for any info you can pass along.

It doesn't really matter if you get a cash reservation yourself or have the DVC owner do it, because either way you are not guaranteed of getting the same room.

The DVC member cannot make a cash reservation for you by calling Member Services. If a DVC member books for cash via MS, the DVC member must be staying in the room.

If you want to pay cash for any nights, your only option is to book the cash portion via CRO. Ask the CRO CM to note a request to stay in the same room with a cross reference to the DVC confirmation number. Ask the DVC member to have the same request noted on the DVC reservation with a cross reference to the CRO confirmation number. Repeat your request to stay in the same room at check in.

You will likely have to check out and check in again between the point and cash stays (to get new room keys), but probably can stay in the same room. It just depends on how the room assigner can work things out. No guarantees.

Sorry, I misunderstood the question. Carol is right, a DVC member can only make a cash reservation for themselves. Even when we are staying in a 2 bedroom lock off and going down to a 1 bedroom, we are not guaranteed of not having to move. We have done it a couple of times and have been able to stay in the same room, but during busy seasons, it is not necessarily going to happen. Remember that busy seasons at DVC are often the opposite of busy seasons at WDW.
