We purchased discounted APs and activated them in November. I also purchased a non-discounted AP for my mother in law. A few weeks after we got back from our trip my mother in law got a AP card in the mail that I am assuming can be used for free/discounted parking. We did not get anything in the mail when we got back.

We are going back in a few months and will not be staying on property. Since we don't have cards how will we be able to get discounted parking?

Thanks

Did you order magic bands through the AP site? If you haven't, go ahead and order them. The card will come with the bands. You should have received a card when you activated them so that you could take advantage of AP discounts.

When I upgraded my ticket at WDW to the DVC AP, they gave me the card right then at guest services. I needed it to show for the discount on merchandise, etc.

Agreed...even if you used MagicBands and had the APs associated with them, you still needed to "activate" them at a ticket booth and they should have given you the card as well.

You can always go to a booth or Guest Relations and get a replacement card, or as mentioned above order your AP MagicBands which will come with the "discount card" to show. But they can also scan your MagicBands at the gates and see that you have an AP.

We purchased DVC APes through member services. The Ap vouchers were attached to our MB's. We were told we needed the voucher number (which member services made a note of on our account), but guest services just scanned the magic bands and then made up the AP card for us when we activated them. We activated them atthe Guest Services is downtown Disney.

We had our DVC discounted AP activated in October and we were not given any cards and received none in the mail. (We did have to show the receipt I used to pay for them as well as our each showing our DVC membership card and our ID's to get the AP put on magic band.)

While we were there my husband received discounts for AP just by scanning his band. Why do we need a card?

Are you _sure_ he received the discounts by scanning, as opposed to just paying? Did the 10% show up on the receipt?

Last I knew, the point of sale systems still couldn't scan the band to verify the AP validity (or DVC membership, etc.) That may have changed, but it was a big missing piece...

My DVC discounted AP Magicbands came in a specially marked MagicBand box with discount cards inside as well as the AP slider. Parking lot attendants have just looked at the slider at times and scanned my band at others. When asking for AP discount in stores, I have always needed to give my discount card and drivers license. The slider isn't proof enough for cashiers. Of course, things always change. I'll find out in 2 weeks.

The sliders were never meant to be taken as an indicator, although some CMs do. Anyone can get one and put it on their bands. It's really a decoration that can also help hold your band closed - that's it.

No one understood why Disney couldn't encode AP and DVC member discounts, or TIW for that matter, in your MDX profile considering you have to show ID for them anyways. But they didn't. Maybe they're finally doing it.

The passholder discount was on the receipt, yes. I've always had to show my DVC card for discounts. It seems to be they should be able to scan and know you are a PH, When you scan for park entry they have even greeted me by name this last trip.
