My DW and I were talking about our next trip home last night. (We mark the passage of time via our WDW trips/photos.) It occurred to me that DVC has become a bigger value than we ever imagined.
Before DVC, we stayed at the all-stars (and loved them). We visited every 11 months to get extra value on AP tickets. We ate at food courts and counter service with an occasional sit down here and there.
With DVC, we get to stay in luxury every 6 months for around $800 in yearly fees. That's close to what we spent for 1 week at the All-Stars.
On top of that, we now get a hefty discount off of the AP passes for us and the kids. That's no small potatoes.
AP holders get discounts on all sorts of merchandise, restaurants, cash-rooms, etc. (Same as pre-DVC. But, worth dancing over).
It just keeps getting better... AP holders can now get a discount off the DDE card. Now we will be able to enjoy 'stretch' restaurants at a near-counter service price. We are now dreaming of Canada's Steakhouse....
We are also waiting to see how Magical Express reviews fare. I'm not a fan of Mears. But, it would equate to saving about an extra $130 from using a towncar service. Again, it might be worth a try.
Now, I haven't done the math... (I'm sure someone will). But, I think our cost per day has significantly decreased since our joining DVC.
Maybe we should visit more to save more so we can visit more to save more...... It's a vicious cycle.
