DVC discount on cash room?

Thinking of doing a last minute long weekend in October for MNSSHP. Clearly DVC is booked solid. How do you go about getting a discount on cash rooms (non dvc even) with my membership?

Member discounts are only available during certain periods, and even then are only available on DVC rooms. Call member services and ask if there are any discounts available for that time.

If there are existing member cash rooms available (if another member used their points for a cruise, etc), then you book through DVC Member Services for a possible 25% discount.

There is no DVC discount for non-DVC villas. So you would have to find another discount like AP, or check Priceline, etc.

Are you an annual passholder? I've noticed there are really good deals on rooms for annual passholders for the next couple of months. Log into your My Disney Experience account and search for ALL hotel rooms for your dates. Also, check for AAA discounts....you need to call regular Disney resort reservations for that.

We are our purchasing annual passes for our trip in April! Was hoping to get in a quick trip this October, but now with how booked everything is, it seems smarter to wait until next October! Buy the passes and activate for April 2018 trip, then use it for October 2018 trip, and maybe even a January marathon or if we're luck our April vacation is slightly early for 2019!

Learning quickly to get the most of my DVC I need to be forward thinking and plan for the next year now! Not worth it to pay cash for a room when I have points!

Yes, these days you have to plan waaayyyy ahead of time. I even do that for airfare and car rental now too. Prices have gotten totally out of hand. I've read a few threads about how the cheapest time to buy airfare is a couple of months out. I cannot do that when I have a DVC trip planned, can't take the chance. If find if I book as soon as the dates are available with the airline, I get a pretty good price and the don't have to stress. Car rental for the week is now more expensive than a round trip airline ticket! It is out of control. I also book a car as soon as I can and then monitor the sites daily for price decreases.

Read the fine print about the great annual pass discount. I am pretty sure if you purchase your voucher BEFORE Oct. 1st, you get 13 months instead of 12.....but double check that.

I can usually find some sort of discount on regular rooms at the World. I am getting a 25% off discount on a room at POR, early next March. So even if you buy resale, there may be other opportunities.
