We would like to stay in a cabin at FW after our SSR stay next year. I would rather pay cash, since it is a Fri and Sat night. Do dvc members get any type of discount at FW?

I know I should have called MS today, but forgot. I am thinking that if there is no discount I could just book online, or is that the very most expensive way to go? I've not stayed on cash since joining dvc, not familiar with the best way to do it.

Most of us here aren't DVC members--it just doesn't seem to pay for us--so you might need to ask this question on the DVC board.

Now if they'd listen to us and make a really premium DVC RV loop with all the frills--maybe........

Thanks, I kind of figured that, but knew that if I don't post both places, someone on the DVC loop would say, "post to the Camping loop."

I must say this does seem to be the friendliest loop on the boards, congratulations. I hate when people get nasty with each others opinions!

I did find out the DVC members do NOT get a discount at FW. FW has my very best childhood memories and I can't wait to take my family there. Alas, we don't have a trailer or motorhome like I did when I was a kid, but the cabin should work out nicely. I am actually MORE excited about our FW stay than our Saratoga Grand Villa stay. DO NOT tell my DH, who bought me points for xmas!:rolleyes1

As you said, DVC members don't get a discount. I joined in 1996, and i could have SWORN at one time, we got disney hotel discounts, but regardless..we don't now :-(. However, you CAN use points to stay at FW, but as you probably know, it isn't the most economical way to use your points. I think it's nice that we can though.
I've stayed in all the DVC resorts (except Vero) and honestly, i am looking forward to my FW stay in our RV more than staying at a dvc resort! I stayed in the cabins before and just found them to be so cozy. My kids wish they'd make the cabins part of DVC, lol. don't i wish!:wizard:

I'm a DVC Member also but FW is my true "home". We have an RV as well but we always stay in a cabin with my mom, dad, brother and this year my new adopted sister from China. It's just a family tradition. THEN and only THEN we use what DVC points we have left into a DVC resort. FW always comes first! :yay:

We also own DVC but love to camp at Fort Wilderness. We plan to stay at DVC resorts this year for 3 weeks then go back with our camper and stay at FW for 3 weeks using DVC points. We will get 6 weeks at Disney in a 12 month period and do it all on points :thumbsup2 We can't wait. Oh yeah, it is a 28 hour drive towing our camper and it is still totally worth it.

Thats so funny how you put FW first! We've been DVC members for 10 years and i used to ride by FW on the way to MK and just sigh cause i was envious of all the RVers pulling in. Here i was, stuck at okw, lol ;)
believe me, i LOVE OKW too but i have never looked forward to a vacation like i do when staying at the Fort. I always said, someday, that will be me!

I know! How Ironic?! A lot of people refer to FW as "the cheap seats" as if they are above that and here we are at our DVC resorts thinking about FW. If those people only knew what the inside of some of those RV's look like or could just experience a fraction of the quality family time that we get when we go camping- they would be envious too. As my daughter first said when she was 6 while riding our golf cart at the break of dawn - "Mom, I wish we could just live here. There is nothing like hearing the birds sing in the morning." All that from a child...

Happy Camping All! I know I've found my calling!

Count me in, too. When we learned we could start using DVC points at FW we were doing cartwheels :rotfl:I don't agree with the statements about not getting your value by using DVC points at FW. I can stay in a two bedroom villa at BWV for 10 days or 6 WEEKS at FW in our 38' motorhome ! :cool1:

Exactly! i only wish i would have done this sooner.
You're right about the RV's too. Our bathroom in the RV is full size sink/vanity and the space of our bathroom is bigger than a DVC studio bathroom!
Good point in the above post about getting the most use of points! In that case, you ARE getting more use of them! it's the time at disney that counts!
