DH & I went to our local DS for a little Christmas shopping. As always, the CM who rang up our order had trouble w/ our DVC card for a discount--had to call the manager. DH remebered her from our last shopping trip, where she also had trouble w/ our DVC card, which rings up as a DC card. The store is located in Jersey City and is convenient to our office. Are we the only DVC members who shop there?

I had confusion at the DS in Las Vegas during a recent trip. It seems that the registesr ask to swipe the stripe on the DC card, and our DVC cards don't have a strip. Maybe we'll be getting new cards soon? I haven't had trouble using it in San Antonio. Maybe it could also just be a new CM, and they don't see nearly the number of DVC cards as they do DC cards.

I have used my DVC card at 5 different DS's in the past three weeks in three different states and not had a single problem--I was amazed, frankly. The CM's tried to swipe it a couple times, realized that it did not have a strip (or saw it right away) and knew exactly how to deal with it. It was totally hassle free! I was pleasantly surprised.

hi: just used my card a couple of times in the local ds store last week. they have never had any trouble with this at all over the years or with the regular mk/dc card.

This happens all of the time, particularly at this time of year when they have the temp Christmas help.

As long as I get it, I don't mind.

TDS are not supposed to swipe a DVC member card. There is a specific code for the CM to put into the computer.

There was never a question that we were entitled to the discount, everyone was very pleasant. But it is the delay, esp. for the Christmas shoppers behind us. The employee was not new, but if she has trouble again, I'll remember to tell her to put in the code. Thanks, JudithM.

Next time you have any trouble and are being held up, just say, ma'm, i believe the code is 55 that you need to use for DVC members since our cards do not swipe. DVC is treated the same way that the old MKC was, you enter manually, no swiping. The problem is, mainly, alot of CM's, even veteran CM's, have never seen nor heard of DVC and they do not realize it gets the same discount as DC, even though they are VERY different clubs! Always make sure that you receive your discount on collectibles with DVC; some may think THAT is the same as DC and it is not.

I don't shop there, but I do go to the 2 Disney stores in Paramus, NJ and they've never had a problem knowing how to put the DVC discount through.

We had trouble at the Roseville store once right after they did away with the MKC. The poor CM had to ring up our order 3 times, the third time with a manager watching over her before she got it right.

The last two times we've been to TDS at the Mall of America they knew exactly what to do. The last time the CM get all excited when she saw the card. She had just bought at VB and was planning a trip to use her points. We spent 15 minutes talking about DVC. It was like a DIS meet :)

Yes, One_Cat, I have initiated the manager at the MOA store quite well! She even knows my name now.
