DVC Discount at TDS

Does anyone know if you are supposed to receive the DVC 10% discount at the Disney Store if there is another promotion going on? I've always received it before, but 2 times at the Northpark Store in Dallas Ive been told it does not apply. Thanks in advance for your help. lisa

When it comes to sales, promotions, etc at the Disney Stores, the only consistent is inconsistency. TDS home base in Glendale, CA tends to set the rules & regulations regarding how many discounts, etc. apply at any one time - it is not consistent. Even if home base sets the guidlelines, various District Managers may set a variation on the guidelines.

Also, it is a common mistake for some TDS CMs to not realize that DVC is NOT Disney Club.

I know if you are using a coupon (you know those $5.00 or $10.00 off), you can't use the DVC discount too. Usually I try to figure out which one is better.

Just got back from taking both DD to TDS to purchase gifts for Mother's day. Got the discount even on sale merchandise....We always get the discount, but I think the manager knows us so well she would give us the discount regardless of "policy" She knows she is still going to come out ahead in the long run!!

I went to another TDS today, (different city) and they took the DVC discount, no questions asked! I thought the policy had changed since I had never had trouble using it before! thanks for the responses. Lisa

The DVC discount at the TDS should work on sale merchandise. It is when there are various promotions, specials, etc. when it is sometime in question as to how many or which discounts can be applied.

I would not count on ANY CM (in any area of the company) giving a discount regardless of policy - that would be an "LP" (loss prevention) issue for the CM & his/her store. CMs can be let go from their job for LP issues.

Since the Disney Dayz promotion has started there are certain days that the DC discount can not be used. This includes, but not limited to, redemption of Mickey Money, 10% off discount on Tarzan Tuesday and Fairytale Friday, redempton of Donald Dollarsand some Goofy Weekend events.
Sometimes it's just a matter of how many discounts are being applied to the transaction. The registers won't allow it, not the CM's.
