DVC Discount at Downtown Disney

We were shopping at the marketplace and were at a huge store (which I thought was a Disney Store). We tried to get the 10% Discount and the guy said no - never have never will!

Am I wrong is that not a Disney Store? Or, do we just get discounts at Mall Disney Stores. Or, am I wrong - we do not get Disney Store discounts.

Also, if we do - does that apply to passes purchased at the Disney Store?

World of Disney is not a Disney Store. DVC does get a Disney Store discount.

Don't know about the discounts on tickets.

As mentioned, The World of Disney store at DD is not part of TDS (The Disney Store) and there is no DVC discount there.

Some have reported being fortunate enough to have found an uninformed CM who generously provided a discount, but that is the execption rather than the rule.

The only DVC theme park admission ticket discount is 10% on the UPH- available only at the DVC resort. Some have reported getting a discount on hopper passes at TDS, but, again, that is also due to an uninformed CM- as ticket discounts are expressly excluded from the DVC discount at TDS. There is still a 10% DVC discount at TDS, excluding park passes and Disney Dollars.

If you have an AP or Disney Club Card, you can use those at World of Disney.

I was going to try & use my DVC card at World of Disney.

Last year, I used my Disney Club card and got a nice discount. But of course they decided to terminate the Disney Club and I could not renew my membership in that program. That is why I was going to try to use my Disney Vacation Club card. Man, that's a confusing paragraph!

Anyway, it would be nice to get a discount there someday. Thanks again for the information.

Yes, thank you doc for telling me where my DVC card is not good at (Just Kidding!) - they make it look much more attractive then it really is.

There is a new store called BASIN that deals in soaps and bath stuffs that does give a 10% discount. It's right next to World Of Disney heading towards Rainforest Cafe. Of course I forgot to get my discount on the items we purchased, but it will save you a couple dollars on some cool things for the bathroom if you remember to flash your card.

I just want to also add that you cannot use gift cards for TDS at World of Disney at DTD. You can use Disney Dollars there, as well as everywhere else at WDW.

The World of Disney and The Disney Stores are two completely separate entities. The Disney Stores are part of one division of the WD Company while The World of Disney store at DTD is part of another. If it is not called "The Disney Store" the DVC discount is not applicable.

Or nice...a CM gave a friend the 10% off on our last trip when she vented about the confusion...and we threatened to buy the stuff with our AP discount anyway.

Of course, uninformed works both ways...the waitress at Puck's insisted the discount was only for lunch not dinner when in fact it was all three meals according to the DVC site when we got back and checked the next day. Not that the discount would have been much (compared to the WoD shopping), but it's a lesson learned to bring documentation when dealing with the emphatically clueless.
