Hi

we are looking at our first DVC purchase are are thinking direct due to the great offer at VGF and the blue card. We are looking to buy either 150 direct with 100 SSR/BLT resale or 200 direct. We won’t qualify for MB as we are international buyers.

My DVC representative has been very helpful, but when I asked about splitting the 150 pt contract into 3 x 50pt contracts she said as we don’t currently have a blue card we must have one 150pt contract to qualify- is that correct?

Finally we are looking to make a booking to qualify for the welcome home discount and she is saying it needs to be before 11 Sept, can anyone share a guide who allowed more flexibility in this until later in the year? This makes a big difference to us!

thanks!

As a new member you must by at least 1 100 point contract. So you can split it to 50 and 100 point contracts. Perhaps you can convince them to waive the 100 point minimum and split that to 2 50 point contracts but I haven't seen them do that for a bit.

Your total direct points qualify you for member benefits/blue card not a contract hitting 150 points. So splitting to 100 + 50 would qualify you (and for full discounts)

You only "have to have" the 150 direct to get/keep blue card right now, but if you're an existing member with resales then you could always do 50+50+50 and it'd count for achieving blue card status. If you're a new member then gotta buy at least 100 direct to start. As mentioned above, you can split that purchase up how you'd like.

If you do 200 then I'd suggest 150 + 50 contracts so in case you decide to sell some you don't lose your blue card later and can strategically keep the 150 pt contract for that reason.

We went all in on the GFV. Its beautiful, good promos right now and NO restrictions like the new properties. Added on 150 points to get out blue card!
The no restrictions is big. I'm worried this may be our last chance to buy a no-future-restrictions direct option. It might FOMO me into another round before they close VGF2 out.

Congrats! We did the same earlier this month. Long ago we decided resale was good enough for us but these incentives changed that! Lol. I’m excited to see June sales at VGF. So many people buying!

I just bought 150 direct and guide split into 2x75 point contracts. Just had resale contracts before.

That is fine because the resale purchase, no matter how small, created a new member account and and the new direct contracts were add-ons at that point.

I believe the 100-point minimum applies only to new accounts (new member or new use year)

Also, it needs to be said that if blue card matters to you over the course of your dvc ownership then it doesn’t make much sense to split the 150 into smaller contracts. Sure when you are done with WDW it returns a premium in the resale market when compared to a single 150 point contract.
The points that earn you the blue card status will need to be kept for as long as you wish to retain blue card status. The moment you sell off one of those small contracts then you have to earn blue card status again and who knows what the minimum point will be in the future. Sure there can be a profit to be had at the very end but I am sure you can invest that 600-1200 elsewhere and see a larger return.
Personally I wouldn’t split my initial blue card contract but I get the reason why to do it. Just a friendly reminder of what can and will happen if you do decide to sell off one of those contracts before you are done with WDW 😎. Who knows what the new minimum buy in will be in the future after you sell…200…..250….300….
