DVC Direct, Has anyone been declined?

We are talking to a rep about adding on direct points and we’re told we needed a score of 650 or higher. we are not financing so I am not sure if its true but that is what he said.

If you are already a member you are automatically approved, no credit check. It doesn’t matter if you are only a resale member. We did not end up finance the purchase but the guide explained it all to us anyway when we bought direct— we were already members— but only resale. I was fascinated by the automatic financing so asked a lot of questions about it.

That’s interesting. Was that recent that you went through that? I gave my guide my membership number and all that during our initial conversation but he didn’t mention that.

It was about a year and a half ago. I was surprised too. I was like really, are you sure? And he insisted. But we ended up just paying in full by using split payments over two months on a credit card. It wasn’t a big contract. Now you have me wondering if maybe he did not know what he was talking about, but don’t be afraid to ask.

You know, that would be an amazing way to push Direct sales. If their base interest rate was say 5 percent the overall price would be about equal to a resale financed via a timeshare lender (I think those are about ten percent). Over ten years that's about 100 percent of purchase price difference (2.59x vs 1.61x).

I suspect they make huge profits off the back of the financing.

If you have been an owner in good standing , for over one year, you get a lower interest rate too. Not much lower, but it’s lower.

Current members of one year or longer that are in good standing are auto approved, no credit check.

We actually added on direct 11 months after our first contract closing and they delayed closing for us until our 1 year mark in order to avoid an unnecessary credit enquiry.

We do not have 650 and added on, no problem. As long as you are current on your dues and payments for the pat 6 months or so, they don't even pull your credit report.
