I am renting points to a non-member and they wish to get the Disney Dining plan. I have not made the reservation yet as it's too far out if that makes any difference.

I have a couple of questions.
1) Can they call Member Services once they have the reservation number and add on the Dining Plan themselves?
2) They are staying in a studio but they have 4 adults and one 9 yr old child. This is over the occupancy level for that room. I have told them they would be much more comfortable in a 2 bedroom, but the studio is what they want. Will they be able to get the dining plan given they are over occupancy?

Thx -

Non members can no longer call MS so you will have to add the dining plan and ME (if requested).

I'm not going to even touch the occupancy question. As a DVC member, you know the rules.

No, you must do that for them.

I don't think MS will let you list five people in a studio, so that would mess up their dining plan.

I'd prefer to avoid the occupancy debate, but there is no way I'd rent my points to someone who is clearly over even the most liberal definitions (wink, wink) of occupancy limits. I think MS is allowing 5 in a 1BR, so maybe that would make a better fit.

FWIW, since renting points is a trust factor on both parties, why get involved with someone who is already wanting to operate in the grey areas? It looks like there are plenty of people willing to pay for reservations these days.

Sorry...got on a soapbox there. Hopefully the questions have been answered. :)

I would suggest a one bedroom unit, as Member Services is allowing 5 of any age in one bedrooms.

As the previous poster said, renters can no longer call member services for any reason...they can not verify the reservation, can not add their own dining plan, can not add magical express and can not book dining reservations through member services. They can book dining reservations through the regular WDW number, but for Magical Express and to add th dining plan, you will need to make any necessary calls.

As occupancy is a hot topic on the DVC boards, this thread is closed. If you wish to continue he occupancy discussion, you may do so in this thread: DVC Occupancy Thread
