DVC Dining Plan

Does anyone know how the Disney Dining Plan will work for our upcoming trip?

We are DVC members (no annual passes at this time) and our family of 5 has a 6 night reservation to stay at OKW in 2007.

The first 2 nights (Wed and Thur) are on points, the next 2 nights are paid with cash (Fri and Sat) , and the last 2 nights (Sun and Mon) are on points again. So we actualy have 3 linked reservations.


Here are the questions:

1) If we decide to buy the Disney Dining Plan for the first 2 nights reservation only, do those meal credits all expire on Friday? Or could we continue to use the credits during the entire 6 night stay? If they do expire, exactly when on Fri do they end?

2) Can we buy the Dining Plan for the 2 cash nights? I think we could if we buy at least one day park admission for all 5 of us. Is that correct?

3) If we buy the Dining Plan for only the 4 "on points" nights, can we use the meal credits any of the 6 days or are the 2 middle days blocked out somehow?

The meal credits are good through the day of check out up until midnight I believe so I you had the plan for only the point days you would have the second day of the cash stay with no dining plan. If your reservations are all linked together you would probably have to buy it for the 6 nights and maybe have to buy a ticket for everyone also. Good luck with this - I think only MS can truly answer your questions.

Don't think you will be able to get the DDP on the cash nights.

If you made the cash reservations through MS (I assume so since you said the reservations are linked so that you do not have to move), the 3 linked reservations will be considered as one, 6-night stay.

So if you want the dining plan, you would have to buy it for every member in your party for all 6 nights. There is no requirement to buy tickets if you are a DVC member who has booked the DVC stay via MS.

The dining plan credits expire at midnight of the day you check out. You may use them anytime you wish between check in and midnight of check out day.

I'd ask MS. You MAY be able to break up the reservations so you could get the DDP for a portion. But as noted, those credits would end on MN of the last day of that reservation (those 2 nights). And if you did break it up, you'd have to check out then in again and might have to change rooms and store your things as well. If they're linked and all through MS, I think you'll have to get the DDP for all nights.
