So i was just on another budget board and one of the things discussed was the DVC dining discount. It seemed like up to date information because it noted the information was valid until 12/31/15.

It listed a bunch of restaurants and some black out dates and that some restaurant discounts were more than others. One thing that caught my attention was that the discount was good for the member and up to 3 guests. Is this correct -- so if my husband and i were to eat with my in laws and 3 kids (total of 7) only 4 of us would be covered under the discount? Or because we are both members we can each have 3 guests? In that case we would all qualify for the discount.

I am trying to research options for our trip to see if the dining plan or just going with the DVC discount is better.

From your experience how has this worked out for you?

Are you both members (i.e. both on the deed)? If so, you should each be able to show your Member ID and get the discount for everyone.

Yes, we are both members on the deed. We haven't done an official DVC trip - Do they check photo id's when checking member cards for these sorts of discounts? I am just wondering, because when we travel to the parks i rarely have my license on me. I am guessing they would verify because anyone could borrow another persons member card.

It's dependent on the server but I've had them check my ID. Also, I'd recommend you having your id on you if you ever want to get a discount. At the stores I've almost always had them check. And if you have difficulty with entry into the park they also want an id.

You should really consider taking your ID. Along with it being a good idea anyway, for most discounts at WDW you're not going to get the discount unless you can prove you are you.

At WDW now, some CM's have asked for photo ID, some haven't.

If you want to be sure to get your discount, carry photo ID. What would keep someone from just bringing a friend's DVC member card on a trip to get a discount?

They are also asking for IDs in Disneyland and Downtown Disney there.. I once also gave my DVC card and my wife's credit card and they wouldn't give us the discount until she presented her DVC card.... For some reason, they seem to have gotten very picky...
