We are looking at purchasing DVC at AKV. We are not in a hurry as we just got back and won't be travelling for at least another year. Does DVC ever have any special offers or is there anything worth waiting for before I purchase? I know we would definitely buy into AKV, but I don't want to buy and then 4 months down the road find out that had I waited I could have had some special offer or deal. Thanks for any help!

There have been people who posted their disappointment that a new, better offer came along later.

Others have posted their disappointment that prices went up and they had missed a good price rate.

No one has a crystal ball (outside of Haunted Mansion ;)) so you'll probably just need to make sure that this is what you really want, what you can actually afford, and that your desired home resort and use year combination is available at a price you are comfortable paying - check resale listings and compare too.

No one knows for sure, but I'm going to guess when BLT starts selling, the price to buy into AKV will go up. Even if the incentives are better, your price to buy in, in the end, may still be higher.

If you're looking at other resorts, look at resale. I'm starting to see more and more AKV, SSR and OKW 2057 contracts out there. Since you're in no hurry to purchase, you can even find some with banked points from previous UYs.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

The current special offers for buying into AKV are:

$8 off per point
Matching developer points
$500 in Disney visa rewards (if you put your 10% down payment on the Disney visa card)

Even if you don't want to finance it would be wise to go ahead with the financing put your downpayment on the cc and then as soon as you've got your 500 reward points go ahead and pay it off.

BLT = Bay Lake Tower the DVC at the Contemporary (we think).

I want to make sure... As a new, first time, owner, I'd be eligible for the developer points? I'd heard that was only for people adding on to their current contracts.

Thanks!

We just purchased 100 points today in Jambo House June UY and there were no developer points. We did get the $8 incentive. We are very happy and we are waitlisted for an additional 100 points at Beach Club.

We signed our contract last week for AKV. We bought 185 points with a Dec. use year, got matching developer points, and $8 off per point which they are now letting you choose to receive in the form of a Disney gift card or apply toward your down payment. We applied it toward our down payment and were only required to put $500 cash down. The other money we had set aside for the down payment we used to pay off another bill, so it worked out great! We don't have to pay maintenance fees until AKV actually opens, so our payment will be lower for the next few months til that kicks in. We will visit SSR on developer points in Jan, and will bank our first year AKV points so we can take DH's family with us later. Worked out great for us!
