Are port charges, transfers and insurance included in a DVC DCL reservation?

Insurance and transfers are not included. Taxes and port charges are included in your cruise on points.

Can you purchase the insurance through DCL? What do you suggest?

If you book on points, the only real alternative to protect yourself is to go through the insurance offered by DVC. It is from Travel Guard (a very reputable firm) and pays $5 per point if you need to cancel inside the penalty period. It is also pretty affordable. You can't really cover your points any other way, though some other forms of insurance for other expenses may be cheaper.

Makes sense! I have to start reprogramming myself to think in terms of points instead of cash.
