I will be staying at the VWL this month and was never notified of the pool closure. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience on getting anything extra from Disney when you are using points.

Usually I would complain until I got some money off, but here, there is no money (just points). Has anyone been compensated with anything else? We would change resorts, but we have 3 studio villas reserved and There is no availability.

I know the small pool is still open and they let you use the Poly and Contemp's pools but it is still very inconvenient.

Thanks,
Erick

No, they don't. Actually the DVC pool (the quiet pool) is open. Also, is you are a DVC member staying on points you can pool hop to other pools.

I know about the pool hopping but doing this with a 2 year old that still needs her naps is very inconvenient. We were hoping to let our 6 year old swim while my daughte napped.

Also, the lack of the larger pool will make the DVC pool overcrowded as I have read.

They have provided alternate swimming provisions. Take it or leave it. They have to do maintenance sometime. This is the time they picked.

I would like to leave it and change to different dates, but I have time off scheduled, plane tickets, and no alternate accomadations.

I do understand that they need maintenance, but had I been informed, I would have changed my reservation.

Isn't the DVC pool "technically" the quiet pool and therefore they wouldn't have to notify about the main lodge pool being down?..
I liked the quiet pool better anyways. Love the bubbles!

I know how you feel. I've found that a bit of an adjustment, being a DVC owner. Pre-DVC if something wasn't right, we'd make the effort to make sure they'd make it right. With DVC, I sort of feel we have less bargaining power.

Silver Creek Springs and Hidden Springs Pools
Splash away in these incredible pools. The breathtaking Silver Creek Falls flows from the resort lobby into the pool area that appears to be carved from rock. Hidden Springs Pool offers a secluded retreat that puts you in a natural setting.

And, according to the Disney DVC website, the 2 pools are listed under ammenities.

Also from the DVC member website:

*Amenities may vary by resort and are subject to change without notice.

Best thing to do is switch resorts. Looks like you're itching for a fight with someone. Good luck with your decision.

I am not itching for a fight, I jus wasn't expecting to get attacked for asking for guidance.

so your one of those whiners that complains all the time to get what they want. Everytime I am checking in I am stuck behind one who is complaning about something so retarded it becomes amusing. And they complain until the cast member gives into their sorry u know what..

Face it the pool is closed. deal with it, there is another pool. period
They dont have to tell you anything. actually I am not even going during this time period and I even have known that the pool is closed during that time frame...sounds like you just didnt bother so now u complain and complain
DVC will do nothing for you cause there like 12 other pools you can goto
including one right outside your door..

And dont say it will be too crowded...booo hooo...The main pool would have been just as crowded cause it is always crowded...so either way, any pool you were going to go in there would have been crowds..

so tired of people whining until they get what they want. so sad

If nothing else, I got a new member to register so they could get in on this thread. :cool1:

erickr123,
I can't believe how rude people have been to you. I thought only nice people were on the boards. Sorry about that.

I hear your disappointment--we just stayed there in Feb and we also were very disappointed. The weather was a little chilly and as it turned out--we didn't have much time to swim anyway. However, we did swim for a little bit the morning of check out and the quiet pool was not crowded at all (only our family and two other people). We have found that the pools are not bad during the day because most people are at the parks. So if you could plan a pool day maybe that would work for you.

We actually stayed at the lodge for one night before moving over to the villas. So--the lodge sent us a letter regarding the pool. That's how we found out--why DVC is not contacting guests is beyond me.

I hear you about it not being convienient (sp) to go to other hotels to swim. It's so much easier to just go to your hotel pool. By the way, I believe the volcano slide at poly is closed also.

Good Luck to you--don't let it spoil your trip.

Thank you dunningdisney. I am sure the trip will be a good one regardless of where we wind up.

There is already one of these threads running on the DVC Planning board from the OP. I'm going to close this one.
