You may be thinking of Cruiseshares ( see http://www.cruiseshares.com ).

Cruiseshares received a lot of publicity when they announced that they would convert Premier Cruise Lines' 37,783 GRT Rembrandt (former Holland America Rotterdam, built 1958) into a timeshare cruise ship -- but that fell through.

Cruiseshares' website now shows the 5,200 GRT Vacation Voyager. Most of the website doesn't work, and I was unable to Google any indication that the ship is actually operating or that this venture is still alive.

But would you buy if the annual dues were thousands of dollars per year? It takes a large crew, a lot of fuel, and substantial food and entertainmant expenses to operate a cruise ship.

It depends on the acoomodations for a cat 12 cabin no but something nicer with a open verandah maybe.

does anyone know what The World (residnsea) costs for ownership? I don't feel like inquiring and getting bombarded with emails or calls.

The cost for ownership in this high end cruise condo is in the millions according to the following articles:
http://www.condohotelcenter.com/alerts/residenseaalert.html
http://www.travelwizard.com/luxurycruise/residensea-homes.html

A cheaper option for Residensea (no ownership but still very expensive):

ok I am completely confused is The World somewhere you could live permenantly or is it vacation ownership? The sites are confusing me. The accomodations are AMAZING though!

You could live permenantly on The World of ResidenSea. But chances are that if you can afford The World, you probably have several other residences -- perhaps one in New York, one in Palm Beach, and one in Paris.

See http://www.residensea.com/ and http://www.aboardtheworld.com/

Man that would be nice huh? It is amazing the amount of money one person could have.

I voted for the better exchange rate. I think the current exchange rate is terrible. We have 3 kids so, we would need either 2 cabins or the large (most point) one. I would never spend that many of my points on a cruise (at current point values). If they changed it and made it more like the World Passport collection or even CC, we would consider taking a cruise with points. In general I don't think cruises are very friendly to people with 3 children. We've never done a cruise, even before we had our third child. It's never been that appealing to us. However if a DCL trip was a resonable # of points, we'd try it!

Okay, here's my plan. I received this email a few months ago. Right after receiving this, I saw an article in AARP magazine in which the author actually (and seriously) suggested retiring on a cruise ship!!

Just substitute Princess Cruise Line for Disney Cruise Line. :boat:

There will be no nursing home in my future.........
When I get old and feeble, I am going to get on a Princess Cruise Ship. The average cost for a nursing home is $200 per day. I have checked on reservations at Princess and I can get a long term discount and senior discount price of $135 per day. That leaves $65 a day for:
1. Gratuities which will only be $10 per day.
2. I will have as many as 10 meals a day if I can waddle to the restaurant, or I can have room service ( which means I can have breakfast in bed every d ay of the week).
3. Princess has as many as three swimming pools, a workout room, free washers and dryers, and shows every night.
4. They have free toothpaste and razors, and free soap and shampoo.
5. They will even treat you like a customer, not a patient. An extra $5 worth of tips will have the entire staff scrambling to help you.
6. I will get to meet new people every 7or 14 days.
7. T.V. broken? Light bulb need changing? Need to have the mattress replaced? No Problem! They will fix everything and apologize for your inconvenience.
8. Clean sheets and towels every day, and you don't even have to ask for them.
9. If you fall in the nursing home and break a hip you are on Medicare. If you fall and break a hip on the Princess ship they will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.
Now hold on for the best! Do you want to see South America, the Panama Canal, Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, or name where you want to go?
Princess will have a ship ready to go. So don't look for me in a nursing home, just call shore to ship.
P.S. And don't forget, when you die, they just dump you over the side
at no
charge

:rotfl: :boat:

I'm imagining it & I can't stop laughing w/ the pictures in my head of my DH hobbling around the Magic.
