Can you break up the 160 points into 2 (80 point)contracts or even 3?

Thanks,

Amy

Thank you for such a quick reply. BTW, I got in contact with Lisa yesterday and will be signing papers at DL most likely next Monday :)

I asked my guide this and he told me no, not for the first contract. :confused3

Our first purchase was broken into 2 contracts and each subsequent purchase has been broken down as well.

What should I do? I told him that I would like it broken into 3 contracts (we have 3 sons) and that we would do 165 points--55,55,55, and he specifically told me that is not possible and only add-ons above the 160 can be broken into parts.

We haven't sent paperwork and final payment yet. I guess I'll have to call. This makes me  !

Also, could these divided contracts be sold individually?

I am not sure what to tell you I would call him and tell him you know people have done it.I would then ask to speak to a supervisor if he still didnt want to.I hope it has not changed we personally have not done it but i know some who have.

I thought I read somewhere on the boards that if you bought directly from Disney the "master contract" had to be for the minimum buy-in amount i.e. 160pts. But add-ons could be broken down, for example a 200 pt add-on could be broken up into two 100pt sub-contracts but you could still take advantage of the promo for 200pts.

However a first (master) contract bought through resale could be for less than the 160 minimum.

I have no first hand knowledge of this, just what I remember reading.

He basically said the same thing. I wish someone would come along and confirm that their original buy in through Disney could be broken into smaller parts (less than the min. 160). When he said this to me it made sense because why wouldn't everyone break down their original contracts--they're easier to sell off. But if you look at the resale market there are plenty of contracts for the minimum buy in (150 or 160)...leading me to believe he was right. :confused3

I'm thinking that if someone bought in excess of the minimum, say 225 points, they could have it split 160-65, or something similar (160-40-25) as long as the "master" has the minimum of 160. I believe the minimum for a sub-contract is 25.

Well that could be right. They could have also changed it to what it was before to. You never know with them. They could have seen people doing that and didnt like it and changed it.

Nope. Can't be done if it's your initial contract. We had to buy 160 and then 65 more (2 contracts) in total. But they would not do 60, 60, 65 for the initial purchase. Add ons can be as little as 25 points. Lots of paperwork when you break up into tiny point contracts.

Thanks thats good to know I knew it could be done but they must have changed it.Or they are making you do the 160 then if you wanted to something smaller to that.

It can be done, just takes some more work that the salesman doesn't want to do. Why process 3 sets of paperwork and provide special handling if he can convince you to just do things the easy way? Just tell him that's the dealbreaker. Find another rep who's willing to do some extra work for the sale or go resale if you're not in a hurry. Overall costs will be about the same, but it might take a while to find the right contracts. One plus is that you can get 2 or 3 different resorts this way, though dividing them may become more problematic.
