Long story short - I had booked a studio at BWV for one night in the fall and wait listed at BCV and VGF. Since I had plenty of points to spare I specifically chose the option to NOT cancel my existing room reservation, I wanted time to think over which room I really wanted and I have local relatives that I was going to offer the BWV studio to if my wait list at BCV came through. Well my wait list came through yesterday and I logged on tonight to check on things only to find my BWV studio canceled!

Not happy right now!!

Sorry that happened and hope they can fix it for you tomorrow when you call.

If you do something similar in the future, use different names for the reservations. It's unlikely they will cancel a room if the occupants aren't the same. You can always change names later.

That's why we don't wait list or transfer points, we have had issues with both. Buying at our favorite resorts and booking at 11 months is the best thing that we have done.

If MS can't help, ask for a team line associate or lead for help.

Can you do that? Can you wait list and keep both?

Yes if you use different names on the reservations.

Yes. There is no limit to the number of rooms you are allowed to book. I don't know if the OP used a different name or the same on both but I also would have used a different name even if it ended up needing to be changed later.

However - MS should have seen that there wasn't anything selected to replace.

Probably not much they can do if there isn't availability to get the cancelled reservation back. They obviously won't kick someone else out.

Best they could do is put it on the priority waitlist - that means his/her waitlist goes to the top of the list. Hope it works out.

Really, really hope that a future update will allow us to put notes on a waitlist request. Sometimes, we just need a way to explain what we are trying to accomplish. I'm sure that would make things easier for MS, too.

I didn't call. As someone else said they can't give me a room that isn't there. I talked it over with DH and we'd rather be at the Beach Club anyways (why we wait listed it) and my in laws will be at their Bonnet Creek timeshare in a 2 bedroom at the same time so SIL and BIL can stay with them.

But why have two options when you sign up for a wait list, one that specifically says DO NOT replace an existing reservation and one that does if MS is not going to follow it? I shouldn't have to list different names. I have the right to book two rooms and hang onto them until I decide where I want to stay.

I did cancel my VGF wait list because I didn't want the same thing to happen again. I wanted the option to hang onto both rooms if the wait list till we decided where we were going to spend most of our park time, but clearly that is too much of a risk.

Fyi-If you call in and try to book with the same names on a reservation most CMs won't let you. It's an easy enough thing to keep different names on and goes a ways towards preventing confusion. While I agree that having the replace option ought to be enough it's not completely out of the realm for a CM to see the same names and know you couldn't stay in both rooms, just as MS usually won't allow you to book that way. Changing names later is really easy so it's the best way to go.

I guess that's true but isn't mentioned anywhere when you are booking and I had never heard of it until I had this issue. If it's a necessary step DVC should tell you that somewhere in the reservation process.
