DVC Christmas Party

I hope I got the correct thread for this one.

2 years ago we were walking from the beach club to Epcot and passed a large tent that was being setup for a DVC only christmas event. We were not DVC at the time so we could not go. Is this something they do every year and if so when is it anounced. We are going to be there after thanksgiving this year.

It was definately on last year, and I am pretty sure it is an annual event.
It is called the DVC Merry Mixer and last year it was each Thursday in December before Christmas from 3pm to 5pm (line starts earlier). You get a voucher for a snack and the drinks are self-serve. The main characters are there and there is special pin trading and pin purchasing.

There is always question in the air every year whether or not it will take place. Last year vouchers were issued for you r "snack". Cold drinks (cider, water, maybe other things) were unlimited. A cash bar is available. Lots of activities are going on all at the same time. A cruise guy will be directing the dancing and kids activities from the main stage, pin trading is available (limited to two pins at tables along the sides), and you can stand in unbelievable long lines and buy the newest DVC pins available. Pictures can be taken with Mickey and the gang, along with Dee Vee Cee.

It used to be that all food and soft drinks were unlimited and the food was really high end stuff. It was really a show of appreciation bt DVC to it's members. Now it seems that they are just offering a glorified "Welcome Home Wednesdays" to satisfy the demand for such a gathering. DW and I now go only for the quick snack and DVC ornament.

By the way, if both you and your spouse want the DVC holiday ornament being handed out as you leave, separate yourselves by exiting minutes apart - -they limit the silly thing to one per family, and they ask if you are with whoever is around you as you file out. Geeze.

Is this something that would be posted on DVC's site as we get closer to Dec?? We will be there and would love to be able to attend.

My friend and I went last December, it was OK. It was very crowded. We got a nice ornament. Water & Cider were included, plus a rice krispie treat. If you wanted a can of Pop/Soda/Coke, it was $4!!!!!! They also had alcoholic drinks, don't know what those were but I'm sure an outrageous amount.

We arrive on a Friday and depart Thursday. Our last trip, they were on Fridays..we missed that one too. Shucks!!

For some reason I have this saved from last year. I do remember they changed the date of the event. I think it was Thursdays.

Merry Member Mixer
Celebrate the holiday season by mixing and mingling with all your Disney Vacation Club neighbors. This complimentary Member event will be held at the International Gateway entrance to Epcot® every Friday in December from 3 to 5 p.m. Remember to bring your Member I.D. — it's required for admission.
