DVC Chit Chat Thread

Eh was soft goods that added the Murphy bed, everything else is still the same, like the two chairs in studios they just got reupholstered but actual wood is same so if it was showing some wear, it’s still there. Same for like the pull down under tv, all the same. All that won’t get replaced until 2030.
Pull down? Is that just the studios?

Our furniture was actually fine. This was just little stuff that should be easy fixes. I’ll let them know in the “how was your stay” survey, and hopefully it’ll be taken care of for future guests!

Hope you have a great trip! I literally just checked out of BCV a few minutes ago before jumping over here to Disboards to kill time at MCO. We loooove BCV, and certainly enjoyed our time there. But our room was pretty banged up, and so were some of the common areas. It was particularly striking coming from a refurbed room at Kidani on a split stay. But I’ll gladly take a little wear and tear to get BCV’s location any time.
I call this the BCV/VGC curse— the location is so good we’ll all put up with questionable room upkeep choices and Disney knows it.

We noticed the same at BWV. I even mentioned to DH how much that would upset me if we owned there.

IMO seems non sensible they have a 5th bed in the studios and not the one bedrooms. I thought BC didn’t have the TV pull down beds period.
Those beds were added during the 2016-17 refurbs. They don’t fit in the 1BR due to the location of the connecting door between living room and adjacent studio to make a 2BR.

We’re in a dedicated 1BR that doesn’t have the door. Wonder why they didn’t put them in those?

I don’t know, but maybe there are so few of those that they didn’t want to have to distinguish between 1BR that sleep 4 and 1BR that sleep 5 when booking.

They do allow DVC points bookings to have 5 people in a 1BR, but the guests have to provide bedding such as a sleeping bag or air mattress.

Can someone explain to me the 31 day vs the 7 day waitlist?

For example, if the days we want come open 14 days before our reservation begins, will it replace our current reservation? If so, will we be penalized when our current reservation is “cancelled” and this reservation replaces it?

If you need more clarification, please ask. Not sure if my questions make sense.

Two things to keep in mind. One, a waitlist will only cancel an existing reservation if you set it up that way - of course, you either have to have the points or be willing to borrow if you're not cancelling an existing reservation for a waitlist. Two, if your waitlist is set up to cancel an existing reservation if it comes through and it is within 30 days of checkin, you have to be careful that the waitlisted reservation will not use less points than the existing reservation because any unused points will go into holding.

So, let's say I'm booked in a preferred view, but I want a resort view because it uses less points. I waitlist the resort view with the preferred view booking to cancel. Well, I'd do a 31 day waitlist because I wouldn't want to risk holding points.

Now, let's say I have 4 nights booked at a high points resort like VGF followed by 2 nights at SSR. I really want all 6 nights to be at VGF, so maybe I set a waitlist for those two nights, with it cancelling the SSR reservation if it comes through and do the full 6 nights at VGF. I'd set that to end 7 days before check-in. VGF uses more points than SSR, so no points will go into holding. If it comes through, then merge the two VGF reservations.

There are other scenarios too, but those are couple of common examples.
