My husband says I’m just being unreasonable and I probably am…but still find it annoying.
We went to the DVC ‘celebration’ last night. Consisting of Disney characters on stage for a 25 min dance party. And then long lines to wait for photos although the sane characters are out every day around the resort.

There were 200 to 300 people there representing probably hundreds of thousands of dollars to millions in point value. And at $225 a point today I’m sure they would like to sell more.

Since it was at dinner time I asked beforehand if there would be food. Oh you are welcome to bring food. Then I asked if there would be drinks. Oh you are welcome to bring a drink.

They did give out wooden leis, the kind everyone used to get at check in. And they had a kiosk selling kids junk.

I’m sure there were too many people to accommodate a free drink or some pizza but it’s just ridiculous to me that they are so cheap they can’t do something more for dvc members or to encourage buying.

Pre covid there was always a couple breakfasts a week with sweet rolls and a mimosa. Is that too much to ask? Apparently so.

Sorry for my silly rant. It doesn’t change how much I love aulani.

When I went we also got the rice krispie treats dipped in chocolate. I presume we got these from an overstock from Welcome Home Weeks. Overall we had fun and appreciated the necklace. Lines for characters were long but moved rather fast and I was happy it wasn't during the day in the sun like traditional greets. The one gripe I had and they could easily do is have had photo pass photographers instead of it just being cell phone photos.

We attended this in July during our trip and I guess I just had the wrong idea about it all together. I thought this would be similar to the events on the cruise ship where they're giving out a drinks and sometimes snacks to each member. Fact is as we found out later that the event isn't just a "member celebration" as there are non-members who are invited by DVC sales to attend in the hopes of getting them to sign up.
