My wife and I bought at BCV only last October ('02) so we're not yet familiar with all aspects of membership. I've seen references to getting cash discounts at non-DVC Disney resorts. Is this info in member e-mails (Which I can't read), Vacation Magic, or where? What's the deal? Are they periodic and ever-changing in resort and discount or permanent unchanging discounts. Help please! A brief explanation, or an FYI to the direct source would be appreciated.

you would have to call ms for the ressies, if the discount is available for dvc resorts only you could get a 25% discount, not always you will get the discount if the discount is not available.

i made bcv ressies for easter using points during the week, for friday i am paying cash, bvc studio rack rate $396.00, discount $296.00 room is linked with my points ressies, i wont have to move.
unless i get a better discount thru AAA or Ap, then i will have to change rooms to the bc resort.::MinnieMo

There are no DVC discounts on WDW resorts other than DVC resorts. The 25% discount is available to members only when the rooms won't be needed for point reservations.

While DVC members may make point reservations at non-DVC resorts, we cannot make cash reservations at those resorts thru MS and there is NO discount available thru DVC.

The DVC discount is rarely available at 11 months and often isn't until 6 months or less before.

Enjoy!

As others have said the DVC discount is only for DVC resorts and is always 25% if available. If you are interested in paying cash at either a DVC resort or non DVC resort, you should really look into the various discounts available through CRO. There are very often AP discounts, discounts for certain states, AAA, etc that are much better than the 25% off that MS gives. I stay at a lot of different WDW resorts on a very regular basis and have always found I could get a much better discount when paying cash at a DVC resort or non DVC resort by booking through CRO and using an AP discount vs the DVC discount (which would again only be appliciable to DVC resorts). Very often AP discounts through CRO are up to 45%+ off rack rates! When you call CRO ask for whatever discounts you qualify for; Mousesavers.com is an excellent site for getting up to date info regarding all kinds of Disney discounts.
Good luck!
