DVC Cash discount rooms - best time frame to find?

We are looking at a trip 12/29/13-1/6/14 or thereabouts. Our hope would be to book 1 THV on points at 11 months, and one on cash through DVC. I have a decent understanding of how the DVC discounted cash rooms become available but am wondering if anyone has an idea of what timeframe is reasonable to hope there might be one? We plan to try and book one through CRO as a backup but am wondering what my strategy should be on hoping for any kind of discounted option, no matter how small. Realizing of course that many of those dates will likely be blackout dates, THV is super limited so unlikely and all that.

Curious as to if folks think our chances on a discounted DVC 2 bedroom (as an alternative to our 1st choice of 2 treehouses) room at SSR would be more likely to be available at the DVC member discount during that time frame and if so, how far out?

TIA

Cynthia

I personally do not think you will find any discount for those dates.

Since you still have several months, it would probably be cheaper and easier to find some extra SSR 2013 points to transfer into your account so you could book both at the 11 month mark in January. I'm guessing about a thousand points? Might not be easy to find all from one person, but perhaps one of the professional renters might be able to help you, perhaps even give you a bit of a bulk discount. I can only imagine that rack rate would be more than ~$12,000 for almost three weeks in a Treehouse Villa.

I'm not expecting any though the 31st but wondered about 1st-6th...

It's only 1 week, not 3. And you are right, a transfer or rental would work better however getting the other traveling parties to pay that much, 11 months out, just isn't in their budget and leaves them little flexibility to cancel. They'd like a cash room so it gives them options, if they need to. A transfer would be best in my opinion but I just don't see it happening.

Have to agree with you due to the holiday involved.

Hoping that there is something after the 1st but I know it's a long shot.
