DVC California Updated w/pics 2/15

Nice pictures... I love the scrapbook. NOw, why can't they stuff like that to its members...

The whole CA DVC thing is tempting. We live in Northern California but we don't need more points for FL. I'd love to have 50 points for weekends and stuff but is it gonna be hard to get weekend reservations? Seems like everyone has the same idea of reserving only a few nights and buying a small point contract.

Does anyone know what the Maintenance dues will be or price per point?

A lot to consider???

Is your offer still up for giving us your DVC rep in CA?

Thanks,
Tina

What awesome photos, thanks for sharing. I was there myself 2 weeks ago, and enjoyed wandering the hotel taking many, many photos. We're on the waitlist with our guide as well...we want to buy here, too. DL is my true "home" even though WDW is our DVC home. Worked there for 3 years in H.S. and college and had a blast. I love to get out there as lften as I can. I get to go again in 4 weeks - YAY!:cool1:

We bought 160 points at DLR last week when we were there, and I just got my paperwork in the mail and can't find any type of "Founder's addendum". What am I looking for?

How long was your stay? There have been posts that 3-4 days was plenty of time to see the parks and resorts. What do you think would be enough days for a newbie to DL?

That is probably enough to see most everything depending on the time of year. We always go in the summer and it is pretty crowded. We take our time and always stay 5 nights Sun-Thurs. We have family down there and we would get AP's, so we would even go back the next week for the day! It is so much smaller, but there are some great rides that WDW doesn't have.

And here is what we got with the planner at the CA DVC office. I don't know if they hand these out for taking the tour, or buying after the tour. I think she felt sorry for us because we wanted to see the AKV model. It is really heavy and seems to be very high quality.

This is the outer box made of wood...

Wow! That is a beautiful book! I wonder if they are available for sale? I don''t normally buy the Disney scrapbooks, because I like leather bound ones!
I'll swap you my Disney Vacation Club beach/tote bag!

uhhhh no :) I'm surprised I haven't seen one on Ebay. I wonder how much it would go for. (not that I want to sell it)

You all are scaring me about being able to purchase GC points. We did a DVC tour last week and we are very close to purchasing, but the real draw was being able to purchase for Disneyland since that is where we go more often. We are in Washington State.

I checked with a few contacts in the Florida DVC office and they assured me it will not sell out to the Founding Members.

We didn't have ours included in the paperwork either. They forgot it. It's a separate 2-3 page contract for GCV. Call your guide and have them fax it to you. If you don't see it, you don't have it. I read through the whole contract word for word twice before I realized it was missing.

As for the sell out status, remember unlike WDW, where there are a bunch of DVC TSs to choose from, DL will only have GCV (for now). And most everyone on the West Coast who likes Disney will be interested in a purchase. So I strongly believe that those contracts will be snapped up in an instant.

I guess the only recommendation I would have is if you are about to purchase Disney and have ANY interest at all in GCV, call a guide at DL and buy from them. You have nothing to lose as the incentives are all the same there as anywhere else. You don't have to fly to DL to buy, nor do you have to live in CA -- you just have to make a call.

I am happy to give my guide's name and number to anyone who is interested. Just PM me.

If you already bought DVC from a non-DL guide, I would call your guide and see if you can get on the waitlists that are forming for GCV across the country. That's the safest bet. Assuming that there will be "plenty of points left" is not wise, IMHO, but then again I don't have a crystal ball. I'd just play it safe and take a couple of easy steps to try to assure that you have access to those GCV contracts when the time comes. :) JMHO

I talked with my guide this week, and was told they feel the GCV will sell out to members, and never get the chance to be offered to the general public. She stressed the point, that there are only 50, 2 bedroom lockoffs. That means for every 2 bedroom in use, they lose a 1 bedroom, and a studio from the inventory. That makes the 11 month window a vital thing to have. She told me that, they feel, I would almost never be able to book a room on my current points at 7 months. I got the impression that the sales division is not happy about the GCV being so small.

We took a DVC tour last week but didn't buy. Do we have to use the guide we were with or can we contact someone at DL to purchase from them so we can get Founders Club status?
