DVC Buyback Question

Or maybe they were able to rent points out to pay their fees that they owed.

Yes, possibly. I don't know and it's not really my business. But I had such a weird experience with my first 2 offers. I'm just glad I found the last company.

That's interesting. Exact same resale site from my story above. In my case, it made me wonder if a better offer came along and they just didn't want to tell me and deal with a bidding war? Or are there really this many life issue sellers out there? Seems fishy to me personally. I have a contract pending and awaiting ROFR with another company (my 3rd one) so I'm hoping to not have to do this again for awhile.
I had a similar weird scenario with DVCsales as well recently. I found a great contract that was perfect for me. Found it late at night while driving to the mountains for the weekend. Made a full price offer (online) and found it was accepted the next morning (while in the mountains). She mentioned that there were several offers but mine was accepted! Yay! However, I was deep in the woods with limited battery and service. Since I had service for about 30 mins while in town, I asked how long I had to sign/return due to my limited accessibility. She said she'd like it asap (understandable) but I'd have until the next evening. Fine by me so that all seemed fine.

Until the next morning when heavy rain halted our planned return. I was stuck in a place with service but very limited battery. I emailed her right away (6am) to let her know I may not make it back by the evening as planned and what should be done. In a very condescending reply she mentioned again the plethora of interested parties and could I guarantee that evening to have papers back. I reiterated that I could not since weather is directing the timing of our return.

Out of courtesy I felt it appropriate to let another buyer who is available and waiting to have the contract. Although I genuinely wanted the contract, I didn't feel comfortable making the seller, the broker or other interested parties wait on my unforeseen circumstances. So I let her know this..all before 7am. Keep in mind, this all happened over a weekend and in less than 36 hours! I say this because TTSS gives you 7 days to return signed contracts even though I'd never take that whole amount of time. Just a comparison.

Next email was a professional yet again condescending email asking that I contact them before making another offer with additional passive-aggressive undertones suggesting I make up my mind before making a future offer. No thanks! I suggested to them I won't be contacting them again on this or any future matters. Flash forward to a completely different and much better contract and dealings with Fidelity. Never again will I use, contact or recommend DVCSales.

Wow. Yeah, you know even though we are about to close on a different resale contract with a different company, I'm still sore about that experience with DVC Sales. Especially because I'd talked to the broker before the offer, I felt comfortable, she seemed legit...but you never know.
I'm so surprised they got snarky with you for a 24 hour delay when you let them know what was happening and were definitely interested. Yet, they expected me to wait for my seller to get their life figured out and get cash together, wait a week or TWO for a MAYBE. Lol. I know they get commission from the seller and so they want to keep them happy, but they can't make a sale without the buyer!

I agree and I think you hit the nail on the head here! The seller wanted the signed docs back asap since I was the lucky chosen one lol. Honestly, I don't blame them because as a buyer I want the seller to sign asap as well. However, life happens and I certainly kept them updated immediately. IMO, no reason whatsoever to respond like that. And, they knew my situation AND it was a weekend to boot. Not sure why waiting until Monday morning would've mattered one bit. Either way, I ended up much happier elsewhere as I know you have to. Onward for us! :)

I lost a contract to DVD using DVCsales. They priced the contract too high for our budget and I made an offer I thought was fair. It took 3 days to get a response to our offer because the seller was having 'life issues' and was 'too stressed out' to respond quickly. What still makes me mad is that after I made the offer I found out they MAY have banked points so I told her I would increase my offer $2 a point if Disney verified those points were banked. Well, they never told the seller I increased my offer and those extra points were a part of the contract, so the contract was signed and sent to Disney ROFR with my original offer. I knew our contract was doomed with that price and discussed it with the broker. She said they could take it back at any price and I should pay as low as possible. Had to wait 28 days for Disney to take it. I sometimes wonder if some of the brokers have a deal with Disney to get them good, cheap contracts. It was just weird. I guess I would feel differently if I got the contract, but I'm still a little annoyed by it.

I agree with them, I'd take my chances on it getting lot ROFR if I thought I could get it lower. But it does seem they have a chance to churn commissions if they have a buyer and get multiple sales because of ROFR.
