I had read somewhere that DVC members tend to travel at different times that your average WDW visitor. What times are considered the "busy" DVC times? What are considered the "slow" DVC times?
I've seen that late November-mid December are pretty busy for DVC. (Low point cost, and the holiday decorations are up). There are prob. others as well.

Well, a lot of members still have children, so it can be busy over holidays like spring break and Christmas. But anything from the first of October to the end of the year is really busy. October and November are big for the Food and Wine Festival. And the first couple weeks of December are probably the busiest time of the year for DVC. The points are the lowest and all the holiday events are in high gear. We love the first week of December. But anymore you need to book that time period 11 months out. It can be pretty busy the first couple weeks of January too. The marathon is then.
I've been on the waiting list for a grand villa on January 8th for months. I've also been calling in to check on a two bedroom at OKW (currently have one for SSR on that evening) so we don't have to change resorts if a GV doesn't become available.
So I'd have to say, the first few weeks of January are very busy.
After Thanksgiving for a few weeks is crazy too. If I'm going during that time, I book at the 11 month window. This problem comes about sometimes because people think they might want to go and book rooms. Now, I don't want any problems here. I'm not for one way or the other when it comes to booking without really having set plans to go. I'm just making a statement.
