DVC booking help

Hi All

We will be going home for the first time next OCT 08 and need some help with booking.

We have banked our points from this year and we will need our points from next year and borrow some from the following year.

We will be able to book in Dec of this year but won't have enough points available to book the full 2 weeks.

My question is do we just book the days we can and wait till our other points are given next year and call to book the rest of the week????? or what

All your points are already in your account. They do not deposit when your use year starts. If you look at your account on the member website, you will see 07, 08, 09 points. You never have to wait for points. All points use is based on the applicable use year for the date of stay. You can borrow one year ahead of that use year when it's time to make the reservation.

If you are planning to stay at your home resort you can book the trip in Nov 07 (11 months prior to your check-out date). If you want to stay at a non-home resort, you can book 7 months prior to your check-out date.

When you call to book your stay, you will need to be able to pool the required number of points into the same Use Year as your dates of stay. You can use points from that same Use Year, points from the previous UY that you have banked, and/or points from the next UY that you will borrow during the call to make the reservation.

If you post which Use Year you own, someone can tell you exactly which sets of points could be used for your Oct '08 stay.

ETA: Based on this comment, I'm going to guess you have a December Use Year:

If that is the case, then your points work like this:

Your 2006 UY points are valid for stays from Dec 1, 2006 - Nov 30, 2007
Your 2007 UY points are valid for stays from Dec 1, 2007 - Nov 30, 2008
Your 2008 UY points are valid for stays from Dec 1, 2008 - Nov 30, 2009
Your 2009 UY points are valid for stays from Dec 1, 2009 - Nov 30, 2010

An Oct '08 stay falls within your 2007 UY so you would use 2007 UY points for that stay and/or banked 2006 UY points. If you need additional points you could also borrow points from your 2008 UY for that stay. The reservation can be made 11 months prior to your check-out date at your home resort, 7 months prior to check-out at a non-home resort.

be carefully - borrowed points must be used in the year they are borrowed to.

even if you cancel they can not be returned to their orginial year.

(there is way around this - but don't worry until you have to cancel)
