New member here! I have a question regarding booking/banking and am hoping for some guidance. Here is the scenario:

We have a 200 point June use year with 121 points left from the June 2022 allotment. Soon it will be time to book our trip for June of 2023 which will use up the 121 points from 2022, the 200 points from 2023, and about 70 of our 2024 points. My question is, do I bank the 121 leftover 2022 points before making the reservation? I am guessing so.

When making a reservation, all points have to be in the correct status that is required. A June 2023 trip is in your 2023 UY...that means when you book, you can used banked 2022, 2023, and borrow up to 50% of 2024, at the time of booking.

So, in order for those 2022 points to be eligible, you must bank them into the 2023 UY first!

I just did this very thing for my June 2023 trip at SSR, where I needed to use points from 2022, 2023, and 2024 to complete the reservation. You can actually start to make the reservation without banking first, during the process it will give you an option to bank and borrow points to make up for the shortfall. So I actually did it as part of the booking process.

Good to know! Thanks for sharing!

What if you do something like this scenario but then you cancel another trip later this year in time to bank those points into 2023? Is there a way to change the points used on the June 2023 booking so that you have points you can bank forward? Hope that makes sense.

I know what you mean. Yes, you can do that. I think you can do it by modifying the reservation online, and then rebook using the banked points. Just don't cancel though, because you could lose the room. Also, if you don't feel comfortable doing that, you can just call up MS and they will do it.

If you bank points after a booking, then you modify the trip, don’t change a thing, and rebook. It will pick up those banked points, use the borrowed points..those can’t go back..and free up the current points from the UY of the trip.

The key is to make sure you don’t borrow too many points so that any banked and borrowed amounts are still less than. The trip.

Also new to DVC. Purchased at Grand Floridian 200 points to use in June of 2023. How do I bank 2022 points. My use month is June. I need to wait until June 15 2022 for my 11 month window to book for 2023 I am reading the points chart and don’t understand the daily v. weekly. If you rent for a week is it less per day?

Also looking at a 2br villa which building is better at the Grand Floridian.

What number do I call to make the reservation?

Any help anyone can give clarifying this is appreciated in advance.

Banking can be done online or by calling Member Services. Your banking deadline will be January 31 every year.

The points charts show a nightly point requirement and a weekly point requirement. If you add up the number of points needed to book 7 consecutive nightly during that particular season, it will be the same as the weekly rate. They're just saving you from doing the math. If your reservation spans two seasons, you will pay the number of points needed for each night based on whatever season each night falls in. There are no discounts for booking by the week.

There are no 2BR villas in the New building. All 2BRs are in the original VGF building.

If this is your first stay using your points, you should call Member Services to make the reservation and tell them that this is your Welcome Home trip. They will be able to assist you with banking this UY's points and booking the villa for your visit.
