DVC booking at Aulani if it is not your home resort

Hi can anyone tell me what are my chances like for booking a DVC Studio preferably ocean view at Aulani for July/August, my home resort is Animal Kingdom, not thinking of going until 2015 but if I am not likely to be able to get a booking I will rethink, so far have only been to our home resort, thank you in advance Anne

You should have a pretty good chance at 7 month mark.

I would book online at 8am at exactly then7 month mark. Take whatever rooms are available.

So far the months that folks seem to be having the hardest time with at the 7month mark are June right before the points requirement/season goes up, and then in December between Christmas and New Years.

If you are online right when MS opens on the morning of your 7 month window you should be ok.... and also have some flexibility in your booking category. When we went in July/Aug of 2012 I had to go up from an island view to a poolview in order to get the dates we wanted.

As with a lot of other resorts standard view seems to be the first to get snatched up due to its low points requirement and then on up. Ocean view seems to be the most available, so since that is what you are wanting you will probably be in luck!

We booked Aulani 12/21-1/2 this past Christmas (2013).
We were able to get a 2br garden view for the entire stay, but it was 3 reservations:
- 12/21 - 12/30 = Points
- 12/30 - 1/1 = Cash (discount through DVC)
- 1/1 - 1/2 = Points

We didn't have too much of a problem, obviously we couldn't get all our nights to come through either looking or via waitlist since we did 2 nights on cash.

But, considering the time of year and 7 month effort - I was happy. I think it would have been easier to get an Ocean View had we tried to do that. Didn't want to spend those points.

I was online at just before 8am the day of the 7th month mark and got what I wanted for this June 28-July 4, 2 br pool view. Just after I went through the booking process there was very limited availability, so it pays to bean early bird, but I didn't have any issues getting what I wanted for what I would assume is a prime season.

I went on line on the first day of the 7 month window for the easter break that we used last week and got all 6 nights that I wanted in a ocean view 1 bedroom. All other views were available at the time I made my reservation.
